Thanks

Why are you on my blog?
Reading this I hope,
I thought it was full time
For this thank-you note.

Thanks to every reader
For taking the time
To read these postings
To which I feel assigned.

Many have said,
“Why don’t you write a book?”
But that specific venture
Is not part of my outlook.

I am satisfied to write
As the inspiration comes
And most of it you would notice
Is about God’s Begotten Son.

Every now and again
I may write something light
But that is for laughs
And to make your day bright.

However I’m principally about
One’s soul’s salvation
And the fact that Jesus came
To bring us redemption.

So as you read
Please give attention to your soul
And remember all that is broken
Only Jesus can make whole.

That is the reason he came
And the purpose he died
So that one’s greatest need
In him can be satisfied.

The need of a Saviour
In the person of Jesus Christ
That forgives all our sins
And offers eternal life.

So thank you for reading
Each and every day
But even more than that
Let Jesus have his way.

Thinking

From the origin of thought to the process of thinking
What a quantum leap!

Thinking

Disabuse your mind
From all you have heard
And let’s stand a bit
On the “thinking curb”.

Think a little if you will
On this Henry Ford quote
As you read in the next verse
Exactly what he wrote.

Thinking
Is the hardest work there is,
Which is probably the reason
 Why so few engage it.”

Thinking is hard work
In other words,
The hardest work there is
It is not the absurd.

This as a result
Could be the probable reason
Many do not join
The thinking legion.

Absurdity by the way
Is incongruous with sense
Even though these days
Many rush to its defense.

So let’s be reasonable
As we think this one through
And by the end of it
Perhaps we’ll share the same view.

In another poem
I titled “The Origin of Thought
I pointed to God
From whose mind it was wrought.

Job was forced to think
Through a God-given exam,
He did so miserably
Poor Job was in a jam.

Let me therefore draw
On that poem I wrote
And extract some of its verses,
See the following note.

“God the Creator
Is the Originator
Of thought
He created heaven and earth
And into this world
Human life brought.

It’s a human thing
You must have recognized
God is its first cause
That you need not despise.

Let us make man
That was a thought expressed,
Unlike all things created
This was a process.

The others he spoke
And they came into being,
Of the earth He made man
His hands did the forming.

Then into man
Life God breathed
Therein the expression
Of God’s thought was revealed.

Out of man
God formed his mate
With whom he could live
And his thoughts communicate.

Which makes the more sense?
Tell me the truth,
This evolution thing
Or the biblical proof?

God created man
With the ability to think
Then He gave him instructions
Thus the first moral link.”

If you didn’t grasp the above
Do engage your thinking,
That’s the very thesis
In your mind should be sinking.

Thinking is a God-given ability
He has granted to everyone
But that may seem absurd
For many appear out of that zone.

The first step in thinking
Is to acknowledge God
And stop being led astray
By that wily old Fraud

For at those times
When there’s thinking to be done
He comes into the garden
And common sense takes a run.

Take for example Adam and Eve
Who took leave of their senses
Forfeiting what God gave them
As Satan breached their defenses.

History is replete
With the many shipwrecked lives
Of persons who in their thinking
Against God did strive.

It is an irrational thought
When evolution they advance
Though a modicum of common sense
Points out there is no such chance.

It doesn’t take rocket science
To spot the absurd
Just a meaningful deliberation
As one thinks on God’s Word.

That’s a quantum leap
Particularly in a world of brilliance
For the brighter men become
The more God they resent.

Like Adam and Eve
They take leave of their senses
As time and time again
The devil breaches their defences.

Wake up!
It is time to think,
To get out of the morass
God is the link.

A Matriarch Passes

Having reached the century
She has passed on,
Five months after the celebrations
Mother Hewitt is gone.

She appeared in good health
When she reached the mark
So when I heard of her passing
It gave me quite a start.

Appreciation is in order
For a race well run,
Tribute must be given to her
For all that she has done.

Many a life she has touched
In her inimitable way
And all of us that knew her
Rejoice to see her day.

She has left a mark
In her church and in her home
And many will reap the harvest
From the seeds she has sown.

It was a long sojourn
That she spent here on earth,
One hundred years and five months
Since the time of her birth.

Sharing the centenary spotlight
With that of her church,
She is now out of her pain
For her limbs no longer hurt.

She is gone but not forgotten
And her legacy remains
For having entered this world
She has not left it the same.

Many are beneficiaries
From the walk that she walked
And not her family alone
But with all whom she talked.

So Farewell we must say
Until we meet again
Over in that wonderful land
In which Jesus will reign.
