It's Revelation

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him, to show to his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his

I thought it was Hebrews

But not so anymore,

Those who think it is Hebrews

That’s traditional folklore.

What is it he talking about?

I thought you’d never ask,

Let me share the facts with you;

That’s not a difficult task.

I always used to contend

Hebrews was the Old Testament

Just like Isaiah, in my view,

Reads like the New Testament.

Regarding OT references

I thought Hebrews was the book

But three books score higher

When I took a closer look.

The Bible, Evolution, and Grace - Articles - BioLogos

For Hebrews it was 42

While Matthew’s 45 was 3 more,

Romans’ 58 was a surprise to me

Being the highest score.

That was according to a study

That included ten books,

It appeared to me there and then

Revelation was overlooked.

So, I probed a little deeper

And discovered a little more,

Revelation topped the list

With a whopping 184.

A third study revealed

There were actually 278

And that this was out of 404 verses

Signified something great.

Of the 184 OT references

Isaiah accounts for 49,

Daniel accounts for 34

And 31 puts Ezekiel next in line.

Structure of the Book of Revelation » Christian Truth Center

Revelation was a letter

About what was soon to take place,

It was written to seven churches

And this can be easily traced.

These churches were located

On a circuitous route

And from Ephesus to Laodicea

Numbered seven in the group.

The churches were to prepare:

The wrong they must put right

For to neglect the instruction given

Would add to their plight.

That Revelation is mostly past

I am now particularly sure

And given its many OT references

I am convinced even more.

Nightmare on A City Street

Global Anger Grows Over George Floyd's Death, Hurting U.S. Image ...

A nightmare unfolded just recently
Not altogether unexpected,
Just a matter of time some had surmised
But most convincingly projected.

Yet when it happened, strangely enough,
Many were still surprised,
Considering not much had been done to stem it
So, again two worlds collide.

There was some element of deja vu
Like this had happened before
Which added a surreal nature to the event
As though it was staged once more.

In living colour, not black and white
Like in the days of not so long ago,
This nightmare unfolded on a city street
As though it was Hollywood on show.
The Death of George Floyd in Minneapolis: What We Know So Far ...
It was the grimmest thing you ever saw
Like the treatment given to a centipede,
Words that would melt the hardest heart
Yet the perpetrator would not yield.

How the viewers of that awful event
Wish to that request they could accede!
But they were powerless, whatever good intent,
When the victim gasped, “I can't breathe.”

Not that it had not happened before,
It had, and not very long ago,
To another human being of similar ethnicity
And that event too was on show.

This one carried a certain nonchalance
As though it was a gladiatorial display,
Just like the victor would subdue his opponent
Way back in those Roman days.

Then, that was the accepted standard
Particularly if the opponent was an enemy,
The victim and his fellowmen were made a spectacle;
This was a gladiatorial show of victory.

14 Officials PSDs Cities Streets Images - Night City Photography ...

Never mind it happened on a city street
At the hands of servants who swore to protect,
It has been happening with such frequency
That it must be high time for a reality check.

This time, more than like any other,
There was a certain imperial attitude,
It was like the perpetrator was untouchable
And the victim was simply paying his dues.

As though this was his destiny-
Just awaiting the whim of his executioner
Or, to put it in a more favourable light,
Destined to die the death of a martyr.

I keep on hearing these heart wrenching words
They just would not go away,
You see, I happen to be the same complexion
And I have family that live over there.

What if it were my biological brother?
Or, my nephew… or great nephew?
It is their faces I am seeing in this nightmare
And I tell you it is a horrific view!

Global Anger Grows Over George Floyd's Death, Hurting U.S. Image ...

If every man has a limit, and I believe he has,
Then it has to be the “I can't breathe” limitation,
Surely, at this point a man must fight back
To ensure his continuation.

Something had better be done and quickly
Besides the rhetoric and fancy foot moves,
Or, even the decent black people in America
Will decide they have something to prove.

That they have no less value that any other,
That they are not the perpetrators of all crime,
That they are no longer only good to be enslaved
And that they deserve to have some free time.

About DMM Law - DMM Law

That the law not only applies to them
But to all, regardless of their colour or class,
And that unless the authorities take urgent note
These current protests will never be past.

Black people, like the whites, have dreams,
They dream of a better day
When like the whites they can walk in freedom
And like the whites, can also have their say.

More than A Collection of Books 6

Matthew is a portrait of Jesus depicting him as King
Hence we find a link to King David in his genealogy,
Greater than Moses or Solomon, Lord of the Sabbath
He who was called King of the Jews is King eternally.

Mark is a portrait of Jesus portraying him as Servant
Unlike Matthew’s genealogy his references did attest
John the Baptist, God himself and God the Holy Spirit
To serve and not to be served was what he did the best.

Luke paints a portrait of Jesus much alike that of a Man
Hence another genealogy going right back to Adam,
He wept as he stood before the tomb of a very dear friend
And showed his humanness in Gethsemane as the Father planned.

John, most difficult for some, portrays him as fully God
Consider Thomas’ acknowledgement: my Lord and my God
Base on the miracles he did and the very words he spoke
One of two verdicts remains; Jesus is either God or a fraud.

The Acts of the Apostles as it is more appropriately called
Takes it from the life of our Lord in the Gospels
Through Pentecost and the miraculous birth of the church
And provides the link between the Gospels and the Epistles.

Romans is a clear exposition on the sinner’s lost condition
And God’s redeeming grace in providing eternal salvation,
New believers identify with Christ as the Holy Spirit enables
Mature believers gain ground in the doctrinal and practical.

1st Corinthians shows some problems in the early church
And the Apostle Paul’s handling in the Spirit’s light,
In this book as well is the greatest essay on love
As well as the gifts of the believers as given from above.

2nd Corinthians is generally perceived as a difficult book
Appearing rather personal and seemingly from the heart,
These difficulties do not obscure the essential basic truths
And once one decides to study he’ll learn that from the start.

More than a Collection of Books Volume 5

These difficulties do not obscure the essential basic truths
And once one decides to study he’ll learn that from the start.

The epistle to the Galatians fulfills a critical role
And clears the air between the law and the gospel of grace,
It is an effort to save Christianity from a sect of legalism
That renders it mere form with grace removed without a trace.

Ephesians is a sermon on how a believer should behave
Cognizant of the investment God made in him by Christ,
The riches of God’s grace, the forgiveness of his sins
And much more is the believer’s through Christ’s sacrifice.

Philippians describes the simplicity of the early church life
The hallmark of which is unity through humility,
Jesus is held up as the epitome of such an attribute
As he suffered death upon the cross in ridicule and agony.

In Colossians the Apostle Paul counteracts some errors
By highlighting the Person and work of the Lord Jesus;
Gnosticism, Legalism and Mysticism were rife
But Christ sufficiency in the believer was the essential thrust.

In 1st Thessalonians unbelieving Jews accused believers
For having turned the world upside down
Sanctification, love and hope are some of its several themes
The Christian life and the day of the Lord are others that abound.

2nd Thessalonians enlightens about the day of the Lord
And some believers then felt his return was imminent,
They had become idle and particularly fearful
And setting the record straight became Paul’s intent.

1st Timothy is a classic manual for an aspiring pastor
And sets out the Christian’s standard for required behavior,
False teachers to be silenced and give thanks to God for grace
Apostasy and the love of money should not be taking place.

2nd Timothy is the call to a life of enduring fidelity
This was the admonition given by Paul to young Timothy
For some had departed from the faith and also from the truth
So the Apostle saw the need to warn of the coming apostasy.

The Bible in Poetry: Romans, 1st & 2nd Corinthians

Extracted from the Bible In Poetry

From Genesis to Revelation

Romans, 1st & 2nd Corinthians

Image result for images for the epistle to the Romans

Romans highlights the gospel given to a man through grace,
About Jesus departing heaven and taking a sinner’s place;
Providing our justification and progressive transformation,
Complete in the image of Christ and our coming glorification.

In the book of Romans we read how eternal life we can receive,
The Gospel is the power of God to salvation to any who believe;
Being justified by faith we have peace with God through Jesus,
For while we were yet sinners the Lord Jesus Christ died for us.

Therefore we are dead to sin and alive in God in Christ Jesus,
Sin should not reign in our bodies nor should we obey its lusts;
The result of sin is death but obedience ends in righteousness,
Being freed from sin and enslaved to God leads unto holiness.

To those who are in Christ Jesus there is now no condemnation,
Not only are we justified but in Christ Jesus we have redemption;
Christ fulfills the law of righteousness to every one that believes,
Both to the Jew and Gentile and all those that Christ receives.

We should never be conceited but show love without hypocrisy,
Bless those that persecute and be subject to them in authority;
Put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armour of light,
Put on the Lord Jesus Christ as we walk by faith not by sight.

Corinthians number one tells of a church that is struggling,
God’s Spirit less counting, the spirit of the world pervading;
Taken up with the gift but ignoring Him that did the giving,
Concerning Christianity Paul sought to bring understanding.

The cross is folly to the lost but the power of God to the saved,
Wisdom to the fool He promised, strength to the weak He gave;
Concerning things of the Spirit the natural man cannot discern,
But to flee from immorality should be each Christian’s concern.

We are the servants of God and stewards of God’s mysteries,
And so as God’s custodians we ought to be found trustworthy;
Our body is the Spirit’s temple meaning really it is not our own,
We must glorify God in our body, His Son and His Spirit alone.

Knowledge can make one arrogant but love will edify,
The discipline of the Lord is critical; on Him we must rely;
The greatest gift is love and we should desire to prophesy,
That they were given to the church we should never deny.

In Corinthians number two Paul defends his apostleship,
Conferring praise to the Father lest they should let this slip;
Satan blinds the unbeliever; stops him from seeing the light
But they that are in Jesus Christ walk by faith and not by sight.

If a man sows in abundance an abundant harvest will be reaped,
A determination to sow a little is a creed we should not keep;
For God loves a cheerful giver and to him He gives sufficiently,
He multiplies the sower’s seed and gives harvest abundantly.

Paul who was taken to heaven saw things he couldn’t describe,
To keep him in humility a thorn in the flesh was prescribed;
God’s grace is sufficient for us; in our weakness it is perfected,
The power of Christ indwells us; therewith we can be contented.
