On this day a year ago
She left without saying goodbye,
On that day one year later
We still remember and cry.
The wound is fresh again
As the memories are revived,
Like a tsunami they overwhelm
And seek to over us ride.
A tear here and a sigh there
Different expressions of the pain,
A wish it all were still a dream
But wishing that in vain.
So great a loss to all of us
That knew this precious Pearl
That on the anniversary of her death
We’re back to that day hurled.
Some still feel it most keenly
As though it were yesterday,
Her life and theirs so deeply entwined
Causes it to be that way.
It will get easier every day
But surge each anniversary date,
We will feel it for the rest of time
Until our own inevitable fate.
Still lovingly remembered
By one and all,
Rest in Christ wondrous Pearl
Until that glorious resurrection call.
