The Many Faces of Space

Image result for images of not enough space

Everywhere you turn there is space
It touches all aspects of our daily lives
Space of one kind or another
And can present a challenge for our wives.

“So little room to put my things
We need a new house to get more space
In here is so cluttered up
That the whole mess stares me in my face.”

Space can be a problem at the cinema too
Where the many movie lovers meet
And you may hear a person say
“I want space for two right by that end seat.”

Of course there are also the times
When some people become space out
Could be if they did not get those end seats
They may very well start to shout.

So far we have mentioned the space inside
But there is also the space outside
Some refer to it as out of doors
Such space is not the best place to hide.

Then there is the space within a container
That tells us how much it can hold
And today just to fill your gas tank
You must either have money or be bold.

There is much space at UWI too
Because a lot of students dropped out
Unable to pay the tuition fees
This has caused an outrage and a shout.

Think about the space between two things
That may be lengthened shortened or be fixed
Whatever it is you can be assured
That this is another aspect of space in the mix.

And the child whose book has no more space
Because it has all been used for work
Get him a book or you will encounter
A child who has an excuse to shirk.

What about airlines that overbook their space
Because less space means more money
To fly long distances with too much space
You must understand is not really funny.

Then note those persons in a single bed
Who roll around as though it’s king sized
Consider too when they run out of space
And land on the floor much to their surprise.

Sometimes one’s heart runs out of space
Regarding a once favoured one
That one who used to occupied that heart
Is then sharply told to be gone.

Some people in church become annoyed
When they find their space is taken
And the offending one who does such a thing
Can find himself a long time forsaken.

Did you notice the rush for outer space
And the spacecraft and shuttle innovation?
Did you note the frontrunners in this race
And how they are bent on earth’s destruction?

So that when that time comes for the earth
And earth’s space has been destroyed
They can live somewhere in outer space
And there their minions employ.

Even now there is a space station
That has been set up in outer space
Cohabited by Russians and Americans
In preparation for leaving this place.

I must also mention the underground
Where there is room for the rich and powerful
No room for the weak and the feeble
But space enough for the wealthiest people.

Finally the most recent space in demand
Is accessed by the computer and a mouse in the hand
Cyber space is its name and it’s a powerful tool
Used by girl, boy, woman and man.

Yes, that’s the complex world of space
That impacts and influences the human race
And man’s avarice and greed for more than a share
Is causing many to vanish without a trace.

One more space I must present to you
That can only be filled by the Lord of all life
And when occupied by the very said One
He quells our fears and settles our strife.

Then and only then all space becomes adequate
As the fight and struggle give way
To the lordship and the rule of Christ
And avarice and greed are kept at bay.

My God Is Blind

My God is colour blind
Colour matters not to him,
Reds or yellows, blacks or whites
His blood cleanses all from sin.

God doesn’t see our looks
Faces and shapes don’t count,
All that counts is that you and I
Come to his precious fount.

Colour stains are washed away
Then we too do not see
The colour of our brother’s skin
In the crimson flow that be.

Faces and shapes, not at all
They too mean nothing to us,
All differences become the same
Reflected in the light of Jesus.

Rich and poor are really one
In all their sin and wretchedness,
Jesus is blind to all else
Except our need and nakedness.

When once we come to him
Old things are now gone past,
New creatures are we in Christ
Blind to this world at last.

The caste system of our times
Positions of the high and the low,
God sees not these classes
Both of them need to know.

He sees their need of salvation
From the ultimate wage of sin
And until they turn to him
He remains blind to all within.

Jew and Gentile are alike
He sees in them no difference,
Abraham cannot change a Jew
Nor Paul a Gentile’s decadence.

He closes his eyes to their boasts
For nothing else really matters
Than the covering of Jesus’ blood
Applied to the former and latter.

Blind to all we deem essential
Position, ethnicity and wealth,
Only because what’s important
Is the state of our spiritual health.

Seek God and His righteousness
And good things will be added to you,
Then you’ll be blind just like He is
And you’ll begin to see what is true.

For man accuses God of blindness
And says He takes no note
Of the injustices that are rife
And how the perpetrators gloat.

How He sits on His lofty throne
And if he could read a mind
Why not stop wrong before it happens?
Surely He must be blind.

But God turns a blind eye to such
To them who will fly in His face,
And offers them great salvation
Compliments of His love and grace.

God is blind, yes in some ways He is
But only because He chooses
To give a chance to him who thinks He is
And that constantly His love refuses.

Grab that chance today
All that pretend they can see,
Outside of Him you are blind as a bat
And headed for a lost eternity.

In the nether land of the dark
There is no value in looks or colour,
No use in one’s position or ethnicity
Only the reality of eternity’s fire.

God will be blind to your predicament
And be deaf to your wailing screams,
To you His grace then ended
Still extended to the saved and redeemed.

In the times of ignorance He winked
But now commands He you to repent,
He will rid you of your spiritual blindness
Only in Jesus will your veil be rent.
