The Saviour’s Return

Is Jesus Coming in October | Pinnacle Church

Some people scoffed at the idea
They claim it’s out of the way
Still others say it can’t be done
So away from the idea they run.

It is scientifically impossible
So say the astute intellectuals
Are you aware of what is involved?
Too many technicalities to resolve.

But yet stupid born again believers
Look for the coming of their king
As a matter of fact they even declare
That his coming appears quite near.

As you read this poetic piece
You might hold to one or neither
But bear in mind the acid test
The truth is one or the other.

Either Jesus will return or he won’t
They cannot both be the truth
So whatever side you decide to take
On you is the burden of proof.

Signs of Jesus' Return | CBN.com

Let’s first start with the impossibilities
And there are several; you will see
Believers say heaven is where Jesus resides
But the location of which they can’t provide.

If heaven is a place somewhere out there
To get here would take millions of years
Given the time that Jesus first came to earth
From whence came those angels at his birth?

They couldn’t have come from the nearest star
For that star we know is light years afar
And they would have to be flying for years
To coincide with the time they were said to appear.

So to believe that Jesus is coming again
One must believe there was a first advent
And since the first one was an impossibility
Then clearly there cannot be a second event.

Now let’s assume that there is a heaven
And let’s assume people are living there
What would be the life span of such a people?
Of what type would be their space vehicle?

And if it is a fact that all beings respire
And oxygen is depleted as one goes higher
How are these beings living wherever they are
Since it is established they would be mighty far?

Some argue there is life other than here
And concede that such beings can’t be near
But given the benefit of extensive research
The only such believers appear to be the church.

You ask are there angels and I would say no
But you would point out that the Bible says so
Your only evidence is from that book
And for all of the answers you say take a look.

The Most Repeated Verse in the Bible | Desiring God

But I don’t have time for such trivia
For even that book is fraught with error
At best it is an enthralling storybook
Made up strictly of fiction and horror.

Now tell me how possible is a virgin birth?
I refer to the first advent to our planet earth
How can a virgin give birth to a child?
How is this possible unless somebody lied?

At best it is a good children’s fiction
At worst this narrative is a terrible hoax
But Christian believers worldwide believe it
And spare no effort others to coax.

But if it is true where does that leave me?
For then there would be the matter of eternity
How would this square with my destiny?
I must admit that therein is a mystery.

What if Jesus did come the first time?
To the second event he would be so inclined
However unimaginable or however impossible
The first event would make the second probable.

For if the impossible could happen once
Why could it not happen a second time or a third?
Perhaps the impossible could be made possible
By the being who created the world.

Of course that would depend on one’s worldview
Regarding the origin of what we see
Whether someone created all that exists
Or whether this world just evolved from a mist.

One would be crazy to believe either one
But the fact remains that one of them has to be true
For of course there is the matter that we are here
And something or someone caused ‘me and you’.

If something, then life emerged from non-life
And this begs the question how can that be?
If on the other hand we decide it was someone
Then with that someone there is no impossibility.

The Most Repeated Verse in the Bible | Desiring God

Remember the book cited earlier in this poem?
Remember the book that is full of fiction and horror?
That book says with God there is no impossibility
With Him all is possible; He’s been around for eternity.

Whatever he says He can do
Whatever He promises he is able to perform
While we may have a difficulty with impossibility
With God impossibility is the norm.

Whatever the impossibilities or technicalities
Jesus, God’s Son came to this earth once
Having done it once he will do it the second time
So be away with the critics’ ridicule and taunts.

One of these days the impossible will occur
The Lord of all life will return to this earth
On that first occasion he did come as a babe
But the second event will be nothing like the first.

Why did Jesus have to die for our sins on the Cross - Kentucky Publishing Inc

At the first advent he came to die for our sins
Back then he came to encounter great sorrow
When next he comes he will be the conquering lion
Coming to ensure the saints’ eternal tomorrow.

The scoffers and the critics will eternally regret
Theirs will be a destiny of eternal damnation
But the hope of those stupid born again believers
Will be realized in their glorious eternal redemption.

Scoff if you must and ridicule if so swayed
But bear in mind that there is coming a day
When the saints of all the ages shall truly rejoice
At the blast of the trumpet and the archangel’s voice.

The dead in Christ shall rise first
And then they that remain shall also take flight
Let these words be of great comfort to you
The return of the Saviour could be morning noon or night.

This Light-Years Phenomenon

Image result for images for Matthew 24:27

They tell me that a light-year
Is the measurement of the distance
That light travels
In a vacuum in a single year.

This amounts to 5.88 trillion miles
If you favour the imperial measure
Or 9.46 trillion kilometres
If the metric standard is your pleasure.

I find it quite amusing
When we spread these numbers around
And those twelve zeroes in the trillions
Can make one look like a clown.

Consider that this is one light-year
And we’re talking “at the speed of light”,
What if it were several light years?
This would be a little too much to bite.

The nearest star to planet earth
Is about ninety-three million miles away,
This is the sun within our galaxy
That brightens each and every day.

The next star in order of distance
Is approximately 4.3 light-years away
It’s really a dual star system
That comprises a binary pair.

That may not mean much to you
And it certainly does not to me
For when I consider things of this type
My head gets a little dizzy.

When I look into the night sky
Particularly on a bright and starry night
I wonder just like David the psalmist
About each of those twinkling lights.

Small they make look to us
Since they are so far away
But times bigger than our planet earth
Though not one you can see during the day.

I wonder which ones are planets
Like the nine in our solar system
And which ones are really stars
Like the sun that each of our days brightens.

There is a lot of argument
Pertaining to the age of planet earth
Which is extended even further
When determining the universe’s birth.

The Bible indicates thousands of years
Men argue it must be billions,
Billions of years for the universe
Considering its trillions of suns.

For when one considers the distance
That some stars are away from us
There is no way the earth could be young,
Now you see why all of the fuss.

How could the light from these stars
Ever have reached planet earth
When we are just thousands of years
And their distance suggests an earlier birth?

It would have taken millions of light years
For their light to reach right down to us
So this particular reasoning
Must give impetus to that thrust.

All this is quite mind-boggling
Even for the scientists
So you could well imagine
How much of it I have missed.

Then of course there are the “gap-theorists”
Who argue that this could very well be
Since no one knows the length of time
Between Genesis 1 verses 2 and 3.

A lot of this is lost on me
And there’s much I don’t understand
But at this point I would endeavour
To point out to you a fact in God’s divine plan.

Just stop for a moment and think!
Where is Jesus at this time?
Have you ever thought of his return?
Has it even crossed your mind?

The Bible says he is in heaven
Perhaps millions of light-years away
But read Matthew chapter 24 verse 27
And take note of what it says.

For as the lightning comes out of the east
And shines even unto the west
So shall the coming of the Son of man be.”
The Bible is the absolute test.

He who spoke the world into being
Can traverse light years in one second
So while this moment is available to you
Why not come to him as he beckons?
