Case First Stated

2 Peter 3:14-18 (p. 861) “A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps.” ~ Proverbs 14:15 ~ - ppt download

A case first stated

Tends to be seen as right

And if it is left unchallenged

It becomes might.

It’s all we have

With no other recourse

Just like a landslide election

And concomitant force.

I travelled to T n T

To attend Wesleyan Congress,

This was way back in 1972:

One was the best.

Here's a look... - National Archives of Trinidad and Tobago | Facebook

While commuting

Along a congested street

Our car collided with another;

Just a side sweep.

The drivers got out

And mark their positions

And then rushed to the station

To win the decision.

The one arriving first

And getting his story out

Appeared far more believable

Putting the other in doubt.

A case first stated

Tends to be seen as right

And if it is left unchallenged

It becomes might.

UNJUST!? Female Boxer QUITS After Fighting "Biological Male" Boxer - Olympics Gender War: FACT CHECK - YouTube

Like the boxing match

In the Olympics,

That a man fought a woman,

Was my verdict.

That was so unjust

Not to mention unfair,

One could see in that mismatch

The woman was scared.

Forty-five seconds

Was as long as it last,

There was no doubt in my mind

The woman was outclassed.

Since the initial report

I’ve heard a lot more,

Many more twists and turns

Have come to the fore.

But still in my mind is,

A man beat a woman

And in the Olympics going forward

This may be more common.

A case first stated

Tends to be seen as right

And for me, though challenged,

It is still might.

Power to the woman

Who fought the man,

He may have been a woman

But I'm still her fan.

An Olympic Marvel

Usain Bolt anchors world record 4x100 relay at 2012 Olympics | NBC Sports - YouTube

Who is the fastest in the world?

I know who got your vote,

It was no other, I am sure,

Than the fleet-footed Usain Bolt.

And the time he ran

That made him the all-time great

Was a jaw-stopping, foot-stomping

Nine point five eight. (9.58s)

Achieved back in 2009,

That record still stands today

And his competition, though fierce,

Was kept at bay.

But this is not the marvel

That I really want to highlight,

Rather, I want to highlight another:

That of team fight.

Usain Bolt anchors world record 4x100 relay at 2012 Olympics | NBC Sports - YouTube

The fastest team in the world

Contains the fastest man

And I do not have to ask the question,

You know it’s Jamaican.

A mind-boggling 36.84 seconds

As four men scorched the track,

Of the skill pertaining to this event

There was no noticeable lack.

Four men with varying abilities

Ran as though one man,

None feeling he was better than the four

Thus, sticking to the team plan.

Do the math, I implore you

And divide 36.84 by 4

And you will discover, if I am correct,

That 100m took Bolt 0.37sec more.

9.58, 19.19, 36.84 - Usain Bolt, world's fastest man, in numbers

On average the four ran 9.21

While Bolt’s fastest was 9.58,

Therein is the marvel I highlight

Bolt’s time is not as great.

No one man, however great,

Is nearly as good as his relay team,

Bolt knew this and together the four

Achieve their World dream.

Not one of us is as good

As all of us put together,

A team can achieve more than one man

By its collective endeavor.

Four men together ran 9.21 seconds

While the fastest man ran 9.58,

I submit, Usain Bolt compared to the four,

Was not nearly as great.

The fastest man, you see,

Is not as fast as the fastest team,

Such a feat can never be achieved

Even in a dream.
