What A Façade!

 

 

Delay of gratification

Delay of results

Delay of justice

Oh, what an insult!

 

Delay of compassion

Delay of assistance

Delay of doing right

With deliberate insistence.

 

Removal of rights

And the promotion of wrong,

The discoloration of truth-

Everything belongs.

 

What a farce!

What a façade!

Unrighteousness trumps truth

And many are glad.

 

Money, the bottom line

And the top line view,

In the so-called church

And in Parliaments too.

 

 

Money mek de mare fly

And lots more as well

And as the opportunists get richer,

Ain’t nuttin dey won’t sell.

 

Every man has a price

That is what they say,

Never mind how good he may be

He’ll change if you pay.

 

This is really sad

If it is truly so,

Particularly to the church

It’s like a death-blow.

 

What a farce! 

What a façade!

Who or what to believe?

Boy, tings bad!

 

 

I can give a solution

But a mind tells me don’t

And even though I am not sure,

I believe I won’t.

 

You’ve heard it before

I have no doubt,

If you are a part of the mess

It’s time to get out.

 

The ‘it’ in the last verse

Refers to the solution,

However, let me emphatically say,

It’s not absolution.

The Cost of Freedom

 

 

Freedom is not free

It has come at a cost,

The cost of the blood, sweat and tears

Of loved ones now lost.

 

Not lost as in unsaved

But lost to this present life

Having died a long time ago

As heroes in the strife.

 

So, while we treat to freedom

As though it is our right,

Many have gone the way of the earth

Having died in the fight.

 

 

Our forefathers fought

While our fore-mothers did squirm

And some were treated worse

Than if they were worms.

 

Yes, blood, sweat and tears

Given for what we have today

And to those who treat it lightly

It’s time to mend your ways.

 

All freedom came at a cost

Be it constitutional or spiritual

Even the law in times gone by

Could not be considered civil.

 

 

Rights depended mainly

On the colour of one’s skin,

If you were white you were good,

If black, your hopes dimmed.

 

It is a lot better today

Though racial themes still play

But the fight against injustice continues

To make a better way.

 

I conclude with a freedom

That was gained for all mankind,

Colour matters not or ethnicity

It is for all humanity.

 

 

The worst miscarriage of justice

Yet the way God planned

For His son to be crucified

To redeemed fallen man.

 

On a cross Christ was crucified

For your sin and for mine

And such was conceived by God

Before the beginning of time.

 

When our fore parents fell

Their freedom was taken away

And so too our freedom

From that very day.

 

 

But through Jesus’ sacrifice

Our freedom was won back

Satan was vanquished at Calvary

And this is the biblical fact.

 

Now all them that trust in Jesus

Are eternally set free,

Whereas they were spiritually blind

Now they clearly see.

 

It’s freedom on two levels

And both at a tremendous cost

But the latter which is far more important

Is for the spiritually lost.

 

It covers the here and now

And the here and after too,

I am grateful to possess this freedom,
