Were It Not for Grace

WERE IT NOT FOR GRACE - YouTube

Were it not for grace

I would be lost,

And you would be too

Were it not for the cross.

God’s amazing grace

Expressed in Jesus Christ,

Wonderful, marvelous grace;

His atoning sacrifice.

Were it not for grace

Where would I be?

And where would you be

Were it not for Calvary.

God’s grace from on high

Coming down to the earth

To save a poor wretched sinner

And give him new birth.

WERE IT NOT FOR GRACE - YouTube

Were it not for grace

The world would be lost

But God forbid it should be

And died on the cross.

It was God in Christ

Reconciling us to Himself

And through His amazing grace

We have spiritual health.

Grace, grace, God’s grace

That sought for you and me,

Grace, grace, God’s grace

What wondrous liberty!

Were It Not for Grace - YouTube

Were it not for grace

Sin would have forever reign

But there is wonderful salvation

Ever since Jesus came.

That first Christmas morn

When the angels sang,

It was of God’s amazing grace

That in the heavens rang.

Were it not for grace

We’d be stumbling along

But because of God’s wonderful grace

We sing redemption’s song.

Redeemed, redeemed,

Redeemed by the blood,

The precious blood of Jesus Christ,

Born not once but twice.

God Knows

Image result for God knows

If God knows something

That something must exist

Since nothing can exist

That God doesn’t know.

God knows the end

From the very beginning

So, the end must exist

Since God is all knowing.

When asked a question

And the answer we don’t know

It is not uncommon to hear

Only God knows.

All wise and all knowing

Are two characteristics of God

That cause devils to tremble

Including Satan, the fraud.

“God can only know

That which can be known.”

If this is baffling to you

You are not alone.

This position is held

By some Pentecostal believers,

I won’t mention the group

But they are deceivers.

To tell you the truth

I don’t know what they mean

But I can surely tell you

Their understanding is lean.

Image result for God knows everything

God’s knowledge is infinite

His foreknowledge too,

That is why Bible prophecies

Have always come true.

One hundred percent accuracy

Each and every time

Unlike modern day prophets

That are self-opined.

They always hear from God

Or so they say

And of the prophecies they declare

I can only say, no way.

Excuses and more excuses

When they don’t come to pass

And the others that say nothing

Just disappear from the class.

Image result for God knows

But God knows everything,

From Him nothing is hidden

And that is why I am sure

All my sins are forgiven.

Whether sins of my past,

My present or my future

I praise God, my Heavenly Father,

By the blood they are covered.

Jesus knows who are His,

They have been washed in his blood

From the moment spiritually

Beneath the cross they stood.

And since he tells me I am his

You could say what you like,

The battle is not mine

And neither is the fight.

Elect according to His foreknowledge,

God knew this all the time

So that His Spirit witnesses to my spirit

That I am His and He is mine.

God Who Cannot Lie

 Image result for Titus 1:2

Do we call God a liar?

Perhaps not intentionally

But we do when we doubt Him

And that could be daily.

And before you grab my jugular

Let me explain myself,

I am particularly desirous

Of staying in reasonable health.

We shunt “once saved always saved”

Because we have some doubt

And so, we offer a works salvation

In order to throw this out.

There is no way that God can save us

Unless we give Him some help,

Hence, our emphasis on works

Just like our founders felt.

Or we talk of serious sin

As though all sin is not serious

Clearly forgetting that the first sin

Caused the spilt blood of Jesus.

Image result for Genesis 3:15

It was just a simple matter

Of not obeying the Creator’s rule

That caused the sin nature to contaminate

The entire human gene pool.

So, let us examine Titus 1 verse 2

And note what it actually says

And perhaps we would trust God implicitly

And not accuse Him of lying ways.

It is not in the nature of God

To tell a single lie,

There is no need for Him to deceive us

And His Word is enough to stand by.

Our hope of eternal life

Which our faithful God has promised

Is guaranteed on one condition

And that is based on Jesus Christ.

1John 1:10

If we say that we have not sinned,

we make him a liar,

and his word is not in us.

1John 5:10

He that believeth on the Son of God

hath the witness in himself:

he that believeth not God hath made him a liar;

because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

1John 5:11

And this is the record,

that God hath given to us eternal life,

and this life is in his Son.

Romans 11:29

Hence, God who cannot lie

Cannot take back what He has promised

For the gifts and calling of God

Are without repentance.

How dare we accuse God

For not meaning what He says

As though He is some two-bit politician

For whom just promising is his way!

Image result for Idaiah 64:6

God needs no effort from us

Regarding what we do or do not do,

That’s where we failed in the first place

That’s the Pharisaical view.

He has provided for us a garment

Why do we want to wear our own?

It is a garment of righteousness

Provided for the elect alone.

It is the precious blood of Jesus Christ

Applied to our heart’s door posts,

Not by works of commission or omission

So not one is qualified to boast.

Our hope of eternal life

Is in the Creator God that cannot lie,

Why do we yet persist in our filthy rags

And his sovereign word, deny?

All sin is covered under Christ’s blood:

The past, the present, the future,

It is not by what we do or do not do

By now I trust you get the picture.

God is faithful even when we are not

In his promise we can be certain,

We do not have to fall back on works

Like the foolish Galatians.

Galatians 3:3

Are ye so foolish?

having begun in the Spirit,

are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

So, forget Jacobed Arminius

And forget the famed John Calvin

For if their transgressions were not forgiven

They have died in their sin.

Acknowledge the truth of God

And lean not to your own interpretation,

The fundamentals of the Word are explicit

And praise God, so is our salvation.

The Colour of His Blood

The colour was red
Of the blood that was shed
For me that blood was poured out

It is finished he said
And there hung his head
Hallelujah is all I can shout

And not for me alone
But for everyone
He did leave his heavenly throne

For the whosoever
And I dare say wherever
To provide us a heavenly home

For all people
Not just Israel
The universal colour is red

It is red that we see
When to Christ we flee
Who raises the spiritually dead

Spiritually dead in sin?
I implore, please come to him
And from your sin be set free

For we won’t escape
Hell’s eternal fate
If we ignore the Saviour’s plea

There’s power in his blood
Come now, you should
Don’t wait until it’s too late

Come to him now
And in penitence bow
Let him wipe clean your slate

I have made my point
Do come to the fount
Where that blood is flowing free

Efficacious indeed
To meet your every need
In this world and eternity

He was human too
And regardless of one’s hue
He came to save the lost

And the blood he shed
It was the colour red
The blood that stained Calvary’s cross

I Was in the Crowd

Image result for images for Jesus speaking to the crowds

Everywhere he went
He was followed by a crowd
And unlike the usual multitude
That crowd was seldom loud.

They hung upon his every word
They loved to hear him speak,
Never a man spoke like he did
And he seldom took a seat.

I know about what I speak
For I was in the crowd,
Wherever he went I had to be
To myself I had made a vow.

Something drew me close to him
At first I knew not what
But wherever you would find him
I was there on the spot.

Image result for images for the healing of the blind man

I saw him heal a blind man
And the priests were very mad,
I was there and I wondered why
For they had made me sad.

He was criticized for doing good
When he made a lame man walk,
Maybe it was just their jealousy
For all they did was talk.

I was in the crowd that day
As they ate the bread and fish,
I was satisfied with what I got
But a little more was still my wish.

Even now as I reminisce
What struck me was the taste
And the fragments were all collected,
He did not encourage waste.

This reminds me of the time
That two had made their vows,
I was at that wedding ceremony
Yes, I was in that crowd.

I was there at the tomb
When Lazarus rose from the dead,
I remember like it was now
Just a few words he had said.

I almost ran away
But everyone stood his ground,
Perhaps like me they were afraid
But to the spot they were bound.

Once he forgave a man’s sins
And the crowd was really incensed
But then he also healed the man
Showing the man was truly cleansed.

That day they showed their hate
And became particularly loud,
I perceived their evil intent
For I was also in that crowd.

I wished I had had the courage
To walk right up to him
And though I eased my way to the back
I was conscious of my sin.

I was in the crowd
Among the mourners that day
That he stopped a funeral procession
And stood squarely in the way.

There was no need for a burial
Not after the words he said,
That mother and all rejoiced
For her son was no longer dead.

Image result for images for the healing of the leper

I recalled he touched a leper,
To do such none of us would dare
But something amazing happened
The leprosy disappeared.

Yes I was in that crowd too
And it left me stupefied,
If I had not seen it for myself
By me it would have been denied.

I could go on and on
About the wonderful things he did
And often he would instruct
To keep it under the lid.

He never wanted publicity,
Popularity was not his calling
But the way he went about his mission
Was to me particularly enthralling.

There was a particular day
When the crowd was very large,
There was scarcely standing room
As the crowd around him barged.

Image result for images for the triumphal entry into Jerusalem

I was at the very front
As he came riding in the way,
Yes! I was in that very crowd
On that Palm Sunday

Unlike the other multitudes
This was a noisy crowd,
They shouted and they praised
And their hosannas were very loud.

He did not appeared bothered
As he had seemed at other times,
He just let them be
As though it were a sign.

It was a coronation fit for a king
I can still hear them shout,
“If these should hold their peace,” he said
“The stones would immediately cry out.”

So unlike the other times
When he did not want the praise,
This time he rode into Jerusalem
As they their voices raised.

I was in yet another crowd
This one with swords and staves,
They went to capture him
As though he were a knave.

Image result for images for the arrest of Jesus

A friend of his was with them
And he did something quite amiss,
He walked right up to him
And on his cheek he planted a kiss.

I distinctly heard his response
And he began it with the word 'friend',
I was there in that crowd
Even though I was not one of them.

Someone drew his sword
And cut off somebody’s ear,
Next this man restored it
He showed such loving care.

A stern rebuke was given
To the one that had used his sword,
Up to this day I still remember the effect
That resulted from His word.

He allowed himself to be taken
And I based this on what he said,
I got the impression if he wanted
One word and they’d be dead.

But he never put up a struggle
He calmly went along
And though he didn’t smile
On his face there was no frown.

Image result for images for Barabbas and Jesus

I was in the crowd that day
When they called for a thief and robber,
It was Barabbas who was released
It was Jesus whom they clobbered.

I can still hear that crowd
The same crowd that on Palm Sunday
Shouted hosannas to the Highest
Now the Barabbas chant held sway.

Give us Barabbas they shouted
But Jesus crucify!
That this man had done no wrong
Not one of them could deny.

I recalled that horrible Friday
As he carried that wretched cross,
He crumpled beneath its weight
And his rapid blood loss.

I was in that crowd
That witnessed the cruel nails
They drove in his hands and feet
And the spear his side impaled.

I saw the blood as it gushed out
And the anguish on his face
And the soldiers stood and laughed
Ignorant of their own disgrace.

I was in that crowd
That rather despicable crowd
When though with waning strength
His voice was heard particularly loud.

Image result for images for the crucifixion

I thought I knew all he meant
But then I was so mistaken
“Father forgive them,” he had said
Yes, they were forgiven.

Later I came to realize
That he meant you and me too,
We too were just as guilty
As that crucifixion crew.

I was in that crowd that saw him
When they took him from the cross,
It was at that time I began to feel
A sense of his disciples’ loss.

They returned to fishing
And I to buying their fish
But how I yearned to see him
That was my utmost wish.

I was in those crowds
But I was the silent one,
I should have spoken up for him
But I didn’t and then he was gone.

I sauntered away from the last scene
With my chin upon my chest
At the great miscarriage of justice,
And the world with all its mess.

Image result for images for the resurrection

I subsequently learnt he arose,
At first I was surprised,
Since then I was in that final crowd
That saw him to heaven rise.

That was a special crowd
That came to belief in him,
He said the way that he departed
One day he will come again.

I will be among the crowd
That will see him come again
But more in particular
The crowd that will with him reign.

That great cloud of witnesses
Of his wonderful saving grace
That will sing the song of redemption
When we look upon his face.
