Love Is a Person

 

 

Christmas is that time

We talk a lot about love,

For Christians, mostly about him

Who came from above.

 

For most people

It is about an emotion

While others for many others,

It’s just a notion.

 

There are many songs

About the notion of love,

This kind can be switch on and off

With a touch or rub.

 

Very physical, in fact,

With a bit of the emotional,

Bringing a feeling unlike before-

Almost laughable.

 

But the most profitable

Is love, the person,

Namely, the love of Almighty God

In the incarnation.

 

 

 

The Son of a loving Father

Expressed sacrificially

On the cross of Mount Calvary

For you and me.

 

 

 

Love came down to earth

On Christmas morn

When in the form of a tiny babe

Jesus was born.

 

 

 

Born of a virgin maiden

And under Jewish Law,

He was the Lamb without spot:

That is, without a flaw.

 

 

The epitome of love

In fact, the very essence,

Jesus embodied the purest love

Ever in existence.

 

It was an eternal love

That paid sin’s debt

And all who accepted this love

Have no regret.

 

The love of all loves:

Agape is its name,

Greater than familial or erotic love

It eternally reigns.

 

 

 

This love, so amazing,

Such love thus, Divine,

Is none other than Jesus Christ

To whom I resign.

 

Thank you, dear Jesus,

For coming from above

And for filling this Christmas

With agape love.

Wisemen Seek

 

 

The shepherds were nigh,

The wisemen afar,

While the former knew the way

The latter followed a star.

 

How they came together

Only God knows

But they met at Herod’s palace,

The Bible shows.

 

They sought Jesus

Is what Herod was told

And he wanted to see him too:

A liar quite bold.

 

Journeying for two years

Having seen the sign,

This Jesus had to be palace-born

Is what they opined.

 

But he wasn’t there

And Herod couldn’t help,

Though his cunning expression

Showed how he felt.

 

 

“Search diligently for him

And when you find this king

Come and bring me word again

That I may worship him.”

 

Wisemen seek Jesus

And for the right reason,

Being aware that Jesus is the reason

For this season.

 

Take Christ out

And mas is all you’ve got

And though many are still deluded,

Without him is naught.

 

Hence, wisemen seek,

Seek to know the Christ

Who gave himself on Mt Calvary

As an atoning sacrifice.

 

 

Paying our debt,

The price of man’s sin

And inviting the whosoever-will

To come to him.

 

The wisest decision

That anyone can make

When in true repentance we say,

“Jesus, my heart take.”

 

He is a wiseman

That seeks the Saviour,

Just like those wisemen of old

Who found his favour.

 

Today if you hear him

Harden not your heart

But let this Christmas season

Be your initial start.

 

 

Wise men seek Christ

And wise women too,

Your star may be this truth today

That brings him into view.

Granny at Christmas Time Part 2

Now uh get a chance to get back in

Uh want this chance to carry on,

If yuh don’t know what I mean

Go back  now and read part one.

Uh does get so excited

Evuh time Christmas comes around,

The amount o’ chile in me

Does mek muh behave like a clown.

Last time uh was wid you

Uh talk ‘bout food and drink,

Now wuh else uh could talk ‘bout?

Gih muh lil’ time to tink.

Yuh know we could get so carry way

That we fuhget about Christ,

After all it is his birthday

And fuhgetting ‘bout dat is not nice.

Widout him there’s no Christmas

No wise men, no shepherds

No Christmas trees and lights

No postcards and no pictures

No families coming together

In celebration of his birth

No angels announcing

That God has come down to earth

No “Let thy servant depart in peace

For mine eyes have seen thy salvation.”

No peace on earth, and no goodwill

No atonement and redemption

No life after death

Nothing beyond the grave

No crucifixion and no resurrection

Just a people most depraved

No cradle, no cross, no crown

No hope and no faith, just a sigh

Of “Let us eat, drink and be merry

For tomorrow we die.”

So as you plan for this Christmas

Think about all these things,

Think beyond the periphery

To the truth that Christmas brings.

The fact of the birth of the Saviour

Born to save us from our sins,

The fact of a chosen Redeemer

Who invites us to come to him.

The fact that God so loved us

That he sent his begotten Son,

Yes, Christmas goes far beyond

The lights, the frolic and the fun.

That first Christmas began a journey

To rescue you and me,

It took Jesus along a chosen path

That led him straight to Calvary.

Every Christmas we live to see

Should give us reason to rejoice,

Certainly for every born a gain believer

That has made Jesus Christ his choice.

Let’s put back Christ in Christmas

Let us replace the unwarranted “X”,

See the “T” as the cross in Christmas

On which Jesus paid sin’s debt.

The “T” in Christmas reminds of the cross
