First Cause God

 

“Whatever begins to exist

Must have a first cause”,

To assimilate this profundity

Let us take a pause.

 

You may call it simplistic,

At a glance that may be true

But it takes some people a life time

To grapple with this view.

 

It makes scientific sense

And to the erudite, it’s scholarly

But its “whatever begins to exist”

Does not factor in eternity.

 

Who or what, I ask

Is this eternal first cause?

For this cause must be eternal

And cannot itself be caused.

 

This cause must always be,

Therefore, always was

And right about now you’ll hear

Darwinians begin to buzz.

 

First cause must be eternal,

No beginning and no end…

Any other conclusion I advance

Is fictional let’s pretend.

 

Any scientist worth his salt

Must come to this conclusion,

And it cannot be Big Bang-

Big Bang is the delusion.

 

The first cause must be one

That has an intelligent mind

Since throughout the Universe

There is intelligent design.

 

 

The order all around

Speaks to a supreme intelligence

And the creativity within humans

Is conclusive evidence.

 

First cause is eternal

First cause is intelligent,

Big Bang does not measure up

Whatever the atheist’s intent!

 

There has to be relationship

For humans have a mind,

We all know this to be a fact

From the beginning of time.

 

Made in the Creator’s image

For relationship:

Relationship with the Supreme

And with one another fit.

 

Design is not by accident

But is purposefully arranged,

God, the first cause did this

And this is not strange.

 

But the delusion definitely is

And undeniably so,

Big Bang surely does not cut it

And it’s time we let it go.

 

Intelligent design wins out

The evidence is markedly clear,

First cause is conclusively God

Whose attributes we share.

Created for relationship

Created to worship God,

Created to honour and obey Him

And to hold Him in Awe.

 

Our First Cause is awesome

He is altogether lovely

He not only has no beginning

But exists in eternity.

 

 

The I AM THAT I AM

The one and only first cause,

The Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer

The Father of us all.

  

He is worthy of all praise

To Him belongs all worship,

Our First Cause: Father and Son

And blessed Holy Spirit.

God’s Prized Possession

 

 

Genesis chapter 1 verse 16

Tells the position of the earth,

Not geographically speaking

But to God, how much it is worth.

 

The Psalmist confirms this

In a very pronounced statement:

“The earth is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof”

Is a declaration of God’s intent.

 

The earth is the center of the universe

Has been the argument of some,

Others have denied this vehemently

And on and on the argument runs.

 

That is neither here nor there

Particularly in the light of this verse,

Certainly, it is God’s central interest

When compared to the whole universe.

 

What gives me the right to say this?

How can we really tell?

Study the words of the scriptural reference

And watch how the evidence gels.

 

 

“Let there be light” has already passed

Now we come to the two great lights,

The sun was created to rule the day

And the moon to rule the night.

 

And then as though it were an afterthought

God made the stars also,

But God is not a God of afterthought

There is nothing He doesn’t know.

 

The sun and moon watch over the earth

None of the other stars does this,

God has a special purpose for planet earth

A purpose that many have missed.

  

Let there be lights in the firmament

God said, to divide the day from the night,

And let them be for signs and for seasons

And for getting the days and years aright.

 

 

Nowhere else in God’s Word

Is another planet given such care,

This is clear, given what eventually happened,

In that God sent His begotten Son here.

 

Unlike any other planet or star,

The earth definitely holds a central place,

And God demonstrated this by sending His Son

As an expression of His wonderful grace.

 

A habitat for His premier creation

The earth is God’s prized possession,

Therein lives His chosen generation

To be found throughout the nations.

 

We can search the entire universe

And we will not find another race,

Except in heaven where there are the angels

That occupy a special place.

 

I may be sticking my neck out,

And you may argue I really don’t know,

But the value of this earth to Almighty God

Is in the demonstration His Son showed.

 

For what does it matter

If a man gains the whole world and loses his soul?

Jesus came down from heaven to earth

To make earthlings like you and me whole.

 

The earth that ultimately matters

Is the people of the earth,

Particularly them that are born again

Them that have experienced the new birth.

Who Might He Be?

 

 

He hears but He has no ears

He reaches out without hands,

He sees all yet without eyes

He hasn’t a brain but a plan.

 

He speaks but has no mouth

Is everywhere at the same time,

His power and might are unlimited

He has a will and a mind.

 

There is nothing He does not know

And none that knows more that He,

The universe He created at the prompt of a word,

Earth’s land and all of its sea.

 

In Him is life and also light

And nothing can exist without Him,

The sun, moon and stars owe their existence to Him

And of Him the trees clap and sing.

 

He cannot be touched or be felt

For He is the eternal Spirit

Yet, He can touch and He also feels

As shown in His Holy Writ.

 

He is not a something but a someone

Though often referred to as which,

However, His many names should give us a clue

And cause an immediate switch.

 

Jehovah Yahweh is one such name

Revealed by a burning bush,

The fact that it was not being consumed

Brought Moses to the point of trust.

 

 

I AM THAT I AM, the self-existing One

Eternal, self-evident and true,

Infallible, transcendent and all together wise

And not influenced by anyone’s view.

 

He can be known by humankind

Though by human, He is beyond comprehension,

And the fact He called Abraham friend

Shows His desire to form relations.

 

He transcends time, space and matter

Which baffles the human mind

And the most we can do is acknowledge Him

And worship His Majesty Divine.

 

He is from everlasting to everlasting

And holds the Universe in space,

Matter and energy are His to command

And no man has seen His face.

 

He is both immutable and immovable

And cannot be altered over time,

His yea is yea and His nay always nay

And he has never ever changed His mind.

  

The entirety of all of human knowledge

With His knowledge does not compare

And on a continuum with His Divine wisdom

Man’s wisdom does not even appear.

 

His understanding is incomprehensible

He sees everything as is all the time,

He knows every motive and intent

And the thoughts of every mind.

 

He is absolutely pure and holy

And incapable of an unrighteous act,

He cannot lie or break a promise

And nothing He says does He ever retract.

 

He is more effulgent than the sun

And in Him is no darkness at all,

He is one with the Word and the Holy Spirit

And it is impossible for Him to fall.

 

He does whatever pleases Him

And to no man owes He any debt,

He is plenteous in mercy and full of grace

And His will is in eternity set.

 

He is loving and forgiving

And His beneficence knows no bounds,

Regarding His steadfast love and assurance

No equal can be found.

 

He can be seen in all of nature

Through its varied and delicate designs

And to the one that seeks confirmation

All nature is a sign.

 

With mankind He seeks a relationship

Through His Son and our Savior, the Christ,

Whom He sent as our kinsman Redeemer

As a once and for all sin sacrifice.

 

 

Therein is the measure of His Love

The Creator, Redeemer and Deliverer

And through all of History and time

There is no greater lover.

 

And who might he be?

Some may still pretentiously ask,

He is God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit

The only of His kind: a unique class.

 

The what He has made known to us

The how is not ours to know,

But one thing for certain of which we are sure

He will not refuse any that to Him go.

 

As a matter of fact

He invites all and sundry to come to Him

Through His blessed Son, the Lord Jesus,

That we might be saved from sin.

 

Accept Him right this moment

And let Him in your heart reign,

The Lord Jehovah Yahweh and Elohim

All these are His name!

What an Explosion!

 

 

The Universe exploded into being

Billions of years ago,

It was a breakthrough in science

Every student needs to know.

 

What a horrendous explosion!

It was heard all around the world,

Louder even than Mount Krakatoa

The loudest ever heard.

 

Could be 15 to 18 billion years

Give or take a billion

That Big Bang in all its glory

Instantaneously took dominion.

 

From here it was plain sailing

As things fell into place,

Well…over time, that is,

As far as scientists could trace.

 

King Time was the agency

Billions and billions of years,

It is amazing what time can do

And what it can make appear.

 

With God it is instantaneous

But with time, it will take some time

Like billions and billions of years

As so-called scientists opine.

 

 

 

But what an explosion it was!

An explosion out of nowhere

Followed by the management of time

Given billions and billions of years.

 

The problem with us today

Is that we do not have the time

But if we had you’d be amazed

We’d create a human mind.

 

We could get a coconut shell

And mount it on a pole

And with the right kind of explosion

Accomplish this impossible goal.

 

Of course, that is, with time

For we cannot leave time out,

With time as the critical factor

We could erase all doubt.

 

Time is the miracle worker,

With time anything can be achieved,

Combined with time it’s no wonder

How many Big Bang deceived.

 

 

In the competition of origins

It’s Big Bang versus God!

And the winner was duly declared

That Big Bang was the first cause.

 

All it needed was time:

Billions and billions of years

And out of nothing suddenly exploded

All that you see appear.

 

Intelligent design, my foot,

Who needs a Supreme Designer?

With Big Bang along with time

All our queries are answered.

 

 

What a controlled explosion!

An explosion that was organized

Unlike the kind we’ve come to know,

This one was cleverly disguised.

 

There was nothing to explode

As in the case of Mount Krakatoa

But for an explanation of origins

Big Bang is where to go.

 

And what an explosion it was!

A loud explosion indeed

But as to what the initial cause was

Of this we are still in need.

Scientific Proof of God’s Existence

 

Many intellectuals are of the opinion

That there is no scholarship in creationism,

It is full of lies, myths and mystery

And ultimately lacks scientific integrity.

The Bible on which this premise is built

Has oft been ridiculed up to the hilt

Thereby rendering it unbelievable

To scientists, astronomers and other people.

During the nineteenth century and before

It was the belief of most scientists for sure

That the universe did not have a beginning

But after that scientific minds were set a spinning.

Given the advent of greater visibility,

The compliments of sophisticated technology,

Telescopic reach extended far into space

Revealing evidence that before was untraced.

For these scientists nothing could be worse

Than the evidence for an expanding universe,

There were galaxies beyond our own Milky Way,

So many galaxies that none of them could say.

Before they were numbered in the millions

But now they even surpassed the billions,

Clearly the universe had a beginning at a point in time

Today that is what all the scientists opine.

Someone greater than science started it all

And now many scientists are supporting this call,

The Bible points to the God of eternity

And posits that He created matter, space and energy.

Three amazing discoveries all point to God

Straight up and simple like three peas in a pod,

Marvel of marvels, they were there all the time

But scientists didn’t want to have God on their mind.

The universe had a beginning quite definitely

Unlike God it’s not from eternity to eternity,

Everything in the universe came out of nothing,

The evidence shows a divine will created everything.

  

God created the heavens and the earth

Outside of Him nothing has any value or worth,

The astronomical evidence points to the biblical view

And scientific advances are showing this to be true.

Scientists who scoffed at the Bible’s account

Are gradually descending from their lofty mount

In humble acknowledgement of a grand design

And that the designer is God, some are inclined.

A cosmic explosion could not have caused life

Anymore than love and peace could cause war and strife,

God is the Author of all that we see

He is the Super-intellect that caused it all to be.

A cosmic explosion would only cause strife

But the universe is finely tuned for life,

Scientists who believe in God may have expected this

But atheists and agnostics, God they have dissed.

The fine-tuning for them would be remarkable

But they would not see this as a miracle

Straight out of the mind of a Grand Designer

Whom we refer to as the Creator.

Some believe it could have happened by chance

And go to great limits their theories to advance,

But such is winning a mega-million lottery on a single ticket

And doing so over a thousand consecutive times as a habit.

Fine-tuning as it relates to life on this earth

Is necessary for all living cells and natural birth,

Hence DNA the language of life is next on the list

Of evidence for God that we should not resist.

As vast and numberless as the stars in space

So is the DNA molecule with its wonders laced,

Baffling the minds of the micro-biologists

And adding to the amazement of the world’s scientists.

 

DNA coding reveals such intelligence

That it staggers the imagination of those studying science,

It is a molecule that contains immense information

With an extremely complex software code for its operation.

There are religious implications but scientists shy away

Proffering unscientific explanations during their say,

Acknowledging there is a compelling case for a Creator

But unwilling to acknowledge God as the Supreme Designer.

One renowned astronomer with no Christian agenda

Posits “shock and despair” as some scientists’ dilemma

Who thought they had squeezed God out of their world

Only to find evidence that causes them to be more disturbed.

For the scientist who has lived by the power of reason

The story ends like a very bad dream

For as he reaches up to conquer the highest peak

He is greeted by theologians who’ve been long at this scene.

So if there is a Creator what is he like?

Is he some cosmic force or a personal being like us?

There is compelling evidence for a personal God

And he walked this earth without the royal fuss.

Two thousand years ago he came to this earth

In the city of Bethlehem born of lowly birth,

His name was Jesus and he was the Christ

That came to this earth to pay sin’s price.

Compare to many his sojourn was a pause

But he displayed creative powers over nature’s laws,

He healed the blind, the deaf and the lame

And for the paralytic and demonic he did the same.

He stopped raging storms instantly

And turn water into wine at a wedding,

He created food for the hungry right on the spot

When his disciples had no way of getting.

He was wise, humble and full of compassion

And performed miracles of all kinds and fashion

Until that day of his brutal execution

By the means we now know as crucifixion.

But he rose from the dead as he said he would,

Death at its worst had not him withstood,

On the third day he did what no other could,

Acknowledge him now!  You really should.

He’s the One who flung the stars into space

Put DNA in a cell and created the human race,

To you he now extends his marvelous grace

So that you could be rid of sin without a trace.

He is the visible expression of the invisible God

And existed even before creation began,

He desires to have a relationship with you

Before the foundation of the world this was his plan.

It was necessary for us that Christ should die

And so he left his home far beyond the sky,

Coming to planet earth sin’s scourge to defy

And now on the resurrected Christ even scientists can rely.
