Seeing Eye to Eye

 

 

There was this woman

That I heard about,

Her pastor was hard hearing

So she had to shout.

 

Let me explain this

And I will then move along,

First it appeared to me

They were both headstrong.

 

I knew neither of them

But that’s how it appeared,

Why they never agreed

At first that was not clear.

 

When she wanted change

He did not

And when change came about

She was hot.

 

From the time he came

This was the case,

All of his plans and ideas

She considered a waste.

 

I really must confess

That the pastor tried his best

But trying to meet her halfway

That was the ultimate test.

 

He tried on several occasions

He wanted to reconcile

But she wanted none of that

That was not her style.

 

She kept him at arm’s length

So that he never got close,

“I liked the other pastor,”

Some had heard her boast.

 

This went on for a while

And it became a real strain

Whereat the pastor decided

There must be a change.

 

He decided on a visit

“Yes,” he would go to her home

And after thinking a while

He decided to do it alone.

 

He asked one of the members

For directions to her home

And as I earlier indicated

He went there on his own.

 

He walked right up the path

That led to her door,

Every window was shut

Need I say more?

 

He decided there and then

She was not at home

But decided to call out

Rather than use his phone.

 

He called out and called out

But he heard no one,

“I’ll do one more thing,” he thought

“And then I’ll be gone.”

 

He stooped right down

To peep through the keyhole

When he heard her say,

“But pastor you are bold.”

 

The pastor paused a bit

And then he gave his reply,

“At least on this occasion,” he said

“We are seeing eye to eye.”

Of Heads and Bosses

 

 

The man is the head of the home

But that doesn’t make him boss,

If there are any bosses in the home

That home is experiencing loss.

 

The man is head of the woman

Even as Jesus is head of the Church,

But this has been misinterpreted

By many a so-called expert.

 

“He can’t be no head over me,

He must first earn it.”

Yes, that is coming from a Christian,

That is her edict.

 

 

The headship of the woman

Is not what a man can merit

But that authority comes from Almighty God

Who takes all the credit.

 

“I am the boss in here

And I can do whatever I like.”

Yes, that too is coming from a Christian

But he has no such right.

 

Search the Bible all through

And you won’t find the word boss,

Some may argue not the actual word

But in that too they have lost.

 

There is no boss in the family

And being boss doesn’t make a man,

And in any case as we have seen

Boss is not akin to God’s plan.

 

 

Male and female he made them both

To walk with hand in hand,

He is the head to take care of her

And together they execute God’s plan.

 

That is, raising up godly seed-

The mission of them both

And filling the earth with the love of God

From coast to coast.

 

She was taken from his side

To walk alongside,

Never ahead of him or behind him

Or for him to despise.

 

No boss in the family

I must repeat,

Just a head as God designated

And the head’s helpmeet.

 

As a body without a head is useless

So is a head without a body,

And when a head becomes a boss

That’s the recipe for anarchy.

Unconditional Love The Woman and The Man

To love and to cherish

And to each other be honest

In sickness and health

This shall be our promise

For better or worse

Whether we’re rich or poor

Even when old age comes

Each other we’ll adore

We will work together

Always hand in hand

And whatever must be done

Together we will plan

We don’t need a list

That’s to determine who

We’ll just put our heads together

And do what we must do

We’ll bare one another’s burdens

And share each other’s joys

We’ll rejoice together

Whether we have girls or boys

And even if the pantry’s empty

Our hearts will still be full

For at least we have each other

And that’s reliable

One another we will serve

We’ll do this by taking turns

And whenever one is challenged

Together we will learn

Togetherness will be our theme

At the centre will be God

And faithful we will be

At home and abroad

Notice there is no list

We have no list to sign

Only to remember the vows we made

And to them we are resigned

Conditional Love: The Woman

Loving with conditions

That’s the in-thing to day

Everything will be all right

As long as I have my way

If you follow the conditions

I’ve put in the list below

All will be well with us

And our relationship will grow

I want this marriage to work

You and me together

So comply with what I ask

And we’ll have little bother

When I ask where you’re going

I expect a clear response

And when I ask where you’ve been

I will only ask you once

You and I will share the cooking

I will not be your maid

If you like, do get a servant

They will do once they are paid

If I wash you will iron

And both together will clean

By the way we’ll both be working

That should be clearly seen

We’ll both do the supermarket

Since both you and I eat

And you can meet your own request

As long as you have two feet

You’re the head of the home

That is all good and sweet

But last I checked your anatomy

You still had hands and feet

You need not sign my list

To show that you have read

Once you do not comply with it

We will be soon unwed
