“A vein for the silver
And a place for gold,”
These were observations noted
By Job of old.
“Iron from the earth
And molten brass from stone,”
Job continues
With his mind clearly blown.
These were easy to find
Compare to the wisdom he sought
And with all their value
It still could not be bought.
Not with the gold of Ophir
Or with the precious onyx,
Neither the sapphire nor crystal
No price could be fixed.
Can’t be exchanged for jewels
Or the finest of gold,
Even coral and pearls pale
For this wisdom cannot be sold.
Rubies fall terribly short
And even Ethiopia’s topaz
Similarly, all the world’s gold
Or anything it has.
Animals can’t discover it
Neither the birds of the air
It is hidden from the eyes of all living
Exactly where is not clear.
The depth says it’s not in me
Likewise says the sea,
But where shall wisdom be found?
Whence can it be?
This world is not its source
That is plain to see,
For, given the direction of its leaders,
There is an abject paucity.
The very thought of evolution
As the origin of man
Suggests that in man’s wisdom
We are definitely damned.
Evolutionary education
Is really a fool’s gold
And its poor imitation of science
Is stupid though bold.
Job found true wisdom
Only through God,
Evolutionary humanism
Is another term for fraud.
The fear of the Lord
Is wisdom’s beginning
And to depart from all evil
Demonstrates understanding.
The Lord Jesus Christ
Its forever producing source
And via the Holy Spirit
Is its enabling force.
Hidden in Jesus Christ
Are all the treasures of wisdom
Which are unlocked and made available
To every single child of His kingdom.
The born-again believer
Has the key to wisdom’s chest
And should the world take his lead,
It would be at its best.
