The attitude of the Christian
That we can’t change anything,
Is precisely the same attitude
That the pessimist brings.
It will get worse, not better
According to the Bible
So, for this world to get better
Is virtually impossible.
2 Timothy 3
The reference above
Reads like today’s newspaper
In which the people of this world
Are avowed God-haters.
Romans 1:30
Haters of God:
They are despiteful and proud,
Inventors of evil things:
Such are today’s crowds.
And the Christians back away
With “We can’t change a thing!”
They hide behind church walls
And they pray and sing.
Praying for a better world
Meaning a new world to come
Hence, oblivious to the fact
Of Christ’s present kingdom.
Identifying with political leaders
As though in service to them,
“If you can’t beat them join them”
The crux of their problem.
Nothing will change!
Not with this defeatist attitude,
We certainly can’t change anything”
In this current mood.
Mistaking the last days
For the days in which we exist,
Having misread the book of Revelation
There is quite a bit we missed.
Consequently, they await heaven
Ignoring Christ’s commission
And with this attitude of servitude
Yielding to the world’s oppression.
Being turned up-side-down
Unlike the apostles of old
That turned their world up-side down
As in the Word we are told.
No attitude of servitude
Certainly not for men,
Not in the case of Peter or Paul:
This was not their problem.
There are many in Christendom
That are pathetic escapists,
Rather than light and salt the earth
They are needless alarmists.
An attitude of servitude
Has become their way to get by,
For some it is such a habit
They even believe their lie.
Ours is a life of service to God
And not of servitude to men,
All things are possible with God
To those who are His children.
