“Incredible!”

Give me just a moment
To explain what I mean,
 I won’t be too long
Let’s reflect on this scene.

A creature: the judge
Other creatures: the jury
The Creator is on trial
For claiming Divinity.

He declares he is God
While posing as His Son,
What are his credentials?
Surely there are none.

The people were blind
Not physically so,
They just closed their eyes
To the facts we all know.

In the Old Testament
That they claimed to know
Were prophecies concerning Jesus
And they clearly showed.

In the New Testament
We have been assured
That he will judge the world
By his Holy Word.

The Father has put such
Into His begotten Son’s hand,
He is the Righteous Judge
This is God’s divine plan.

So how ironic it was
For mere men to judge him
And then had the audacity
To even accuse him of sin.

The ecclesiastical Gurus
Would you believe it
That they accused God’s Son
Of a blasphemous spirit?

This did not go well
With the Roman official
So other charges were brought
To convict this criminal.

He was a revolutionary
And he encouraged tax evasion,
He was a threat to Caesar
Formed their final submission.

A miscarriage of justice
What else could it be?
But these were a religious people
Too blind to see

That before them stood
The Righteous Judge,
So blind they had become
They wouldn’t even budge.

Quite in fitting I must add
Though ironically so,
They were following the plan
And they didn’t even know.

A mystery it would have been
To the unfocused eye
Such that even today
This same Judge we still deny.

Incredible I say
That to the world’s judgment hall
The Righteous Judge of this world
Was by summons called

Then tried and sentenced
To death on a cross,
At first glance it would appear
To be a colossal loss.

But God in his eternal wisdom
Turned loss into gain
And through the death of Jesus
Promised life in his name.

For one day coming
Will be another judgment hall
And everyone that ever lived
Will by summons be called.

What we have done with Jesus
Will be the basis of that court
And to this same Jesus
One and all must report.

That too will be incredible
But make no mistake
No one that denies the Righteous Judge
Will be able to escape.

“Incredible!” I say
“Incredible!” I mean,
On that great judgment day
Will be an incredible scene!
