A key doctrine of Scripture
Has to be the doctrine of Election
Yet, it can be particularly controversial
Concerning who are the chosen.
Some say it is the Jews
Some say it’s another special group,
I believe the Scriptures are clear
Concerning who are in the loop.
Election is not a man thing,
It is not men that decide,
It is not a denomination or association
That accepts some while others are denied.
It is not a privileged group
That has been deemed so by its leader
Or some religious sect or cult
Regulated by its founder.
It is not Moslems or Jews
Wesleyans or Seventh Day Adventists,
It is not the Jehovah’s Witnesses
Or those on any given lists.
It is the elect of God
And therefore, God gets to choose,
Chosen in Christ Jesus
And believe you me, none will he lose.
And these are the born-again
As Jesus admonished Nicodemus,
“Ye must be born again,”
The exact words of Jesus.
None of these can be lost
Because the Father drew every one,
He is the only way to the Son
And this conclusion is foregone.
This is also true with the Father
Since the Son is the only way to Him
And with the Spirit as the conduit
The Elect is saved from sin.
The elect was given to the Son
Even before the World begun
And the elect did not choose God
Instead, they were the chosen.
All that the Father has given the Son
Will come to the Son
And none can be plucked from him,
No, not one.
We must still make our calling
And our election sure
But please don’t quiz me on this one
Because I can say no more.
“All that come to me,” says Jesus,
“I will in no wise cast out,”
And on the basis of his assurance alone
I have no doubt.
He was speaking of his elect
And he was assuaging their fears,
He will bring them all to safety
For none cares like Jesus cares.
