We remember a man with a great mind,
Had he been with us still
He would have been ninety-nine.
In 2009 when Dad Russell died
He was a robust eighty-seven
Then suddenly, everything changed
And he was on his way to heaven.
We still feel it like yesterday
As we look back on that scene
And at nights when we go to sleep
He is occasionally in our dreams.
He has left a gigantic legacy
One we will never forget,
We wish he was here to celebrate today
But that is a huge regret.
However, be that as it may
There is much we can celebrate,
The fact that though he is not around
We still live by his dictates.
His words of wisdom were many
And he modelled them too
And though like all he was not perfect,
His was a reasonable view.
For he was a reasonable man
And a humorous man too,
His family and friends still miss him,
I know for sure we do.
