Grace the Teacher

 

I have a friend

She is like my sister,

In all of my teaching days

There was no teacher like her.

She taught slow children

And she got them to read,

She was called of God

To minister to their need.

However, this poem

Is not about Grace, my friend

But about another teacher:

Read right to the end.

The former Grace was called

But this grace was God-sent

Appearing unto all men

With a God-given intent.

In Titus 2 verses 11 and 12

Go look for yourself,

The Bible is the No. 1 source

Of spiritual health.

 

For the grace of God

That bringeth salvation

Hath appeared unto all men

Teaching us that,

Denying ungodliness and worldly lusts,

We should live soberly,

Righteously and godly

In this present world.

This grace brought salvation

Not to one but to all,

This grace was God-sent

While Gracelyn was called.

This grace appeared to all

Over two thousand years ago

And today in our world

This grace is still on show.

 

And grace is still teaching

The facts of life:

How to live righteously and godly

And avoid worldly strife.

Jesus Christ our Saviour

Is truly grace personified

And he teaches one and all

That ungodliness we must deny.

Grace continues to teach us

Of that blessed hope:

To anticipate its appearing

And in the meantime, how to cope.

The glorious appearing

Of the great God

And our Saviour Jesus Christ

That personified grace

In his great sacrifice.

Did you not know

That grace is a teacher?

Well, I guess you know now

And there is none that is greater.
