Thirty-Seven Miracles of Jesus

1. The first was at a wedding

Where he turned water into wine

And all present agreed

The wine was absolutely fine.

2. Then at Cana of Galilee

He healed a noble man’s son,

3. Next, he cast out an evil spirit

Also at Capernaum.

4. Peter’s mother-in-law was sick

And Jesus was the cure,

In no time she was up

And going about her chores.

5. On one particular evening

He healed a lot of people

6. Then on the Lake Gennesaret

He did the first fishing miracle.

7. Next, he cleansed a leper

8. And after, a centurion’s servant

9. Then the suspended paralytic

Hanging from ropes like a pendant.

10. Next, Jesus healed a man

That had a withered hand

And though it was on the Sabbath

“Doing good” was Jesus’ plan.

11. Next, he raised a widow’s son

12. And calmed a stormy sea

13. Then deliver demons into pigs

And the citizens responded angrily.

14. Then there was the woman

With the issue of blood,

15. Next, the raising of Jairus’ daughter

Done only as Jesus could.

16. Jesus healed two blind men

17. Then a man who could not speak,

18. Next, an invalid at Bethesda

19. And from little, 5000 plus did eat.

  

20. This man was possessed by a devil

He was both blind and dumb,

Jesus wonderfully healed him

But was said to be in league with Satan.

21. Next, he walked on water

22. Then healed many that were sick,

As each one touched his garment

He was healed; it was no trick.

23. He healed a Gentile girl

By a demon, she was possessed,

In response to Jesus’ challenge

Her mother’s faith passed the test.

24. He healed a deaf and dumb man

25. Then next it was the 4000 plus,

With seven loaves and a few fishes

He fed them without a fuss.

26. He healed a blind man at Bethsaida

Whom he touched a second time,

27. Quite unlike the next blind man

Where clay and spittle were fine.

28. A man brought his son to Jesus

Whom the disciples could not cure

But was Jesus able to heal him?

The answer to that is “sure”.

29. Then there was the temple tax

That was delivered by a fish,

Peter went down to collect it

And the tax collectors got their wish.

30. Then there was this woman

That was sick for eighteen years,

Jesus loosed her from her infirmity

Which she no longer had to bear.

31. Jesus healed a man with dropsy

32. And cleansed ten lepers too

33. Next, he raised Lazarus from the dead

34. And gave Bartimaeus a perfect view.

35. Just a word and a fig tree withered

36. Next, he restored a severed ear,

37. Then came the second fishing miracle:

Thirty-seven miracles that’s clear.

Perhaps, you can find another

That I may have overlooked...

Like the calming of the storm,

So I could check it in the Book.

The truth of the matter is:

There were many more miracles

For on more than one occasion

Jesus healed many people.

And, add to these His resurrection,

And his ascension too

As his disciples stood upward gazing,

Having such a remarkable view.

Then, of course, there is mine,

I have a miracle all my own,

If from sin Jesus has set you free

Such a miracle is not mine alone.

The salvation of a soul:

That is the greatest miracle today,

I implore you, my friend, believe in him

And let him have his way.

Numbers in the Bible

Some numbers in the Bible

Seem particularly special,

That they contain secrets

Are believed by some people.

Some people use them

To try to tell the future,

This is biblical numerology:

A dangerous endeavour.

Some use them to predict

The coming of the Lord

But no man knows this

As is stated in God’s Word.

Come and walk with me

As some numbers we explore:

Take the significance given

And try to predict no more.

Let’s start at the beginning

In the beginning God…

Created heaven and earth

Spread that abroad.

The Lord God is one

Besides Him, there’s no other,

Read Deuteronomy 6 verse 4

And clear up that matter.

Recorded in Genesis 1 verse 16

God made two great lights:

The greater to rule the day

And the lesser to rule the night.

There are three in the Trinity

The Father, the Word and the Spirit,

Read Genesis 1 and John 1

And there you will see it.

Four heads to the river

Than extended out of Eden,

Genesis chapter 2 shows this

In describing the Garden.

Five virgins were wise

And the other five were not,

Read about it in Matthew 25

And then choose your lot.

Six is the number of days

Allotted to God’s creative acts,

Study Exodus 20 verse 11

To avoid the evolution trap.

On day seven God rested

His work was complete

Genesis 2 verse 2 asserts this

Hence I need not repeat.

Eight days were given

For the circumcising of a child,

Such was the case of Jesus

As Luke chapter 2:21 describes.

Of ten lepers Jesus cleansed

Just one had returned,

Nine of them did not say thanks

In Luke 17 of this we learn.

There are Ten Commandments

Which Jesus précis into two

Look up Exodus chapter 20

And get the ten within view.

When Jesus ascended

Eleven disciples were left,

Matthew 27 tells about Judas:

His betrayal and his death.

Twelve tribes, twelve disciples

There’s so much more of twelve,

In the Old Testament and the New

Check it out if you care to delve.

Four and twenty or twenty-four

Are the elders in Revelation:

Read chapters 4 through 19

And you will get the explanation.

  

Thirty pieces of silver

To effect the betrayal of Christ

Matthew chapter 26 and verse 15

Tells about Judas and his vice.

Let me now jump to forty

A very significant number indeed

Re: the temptations of Jesus Christ

Which Matthew and Luke reveal.

Fifty is about Pentecost

A shifting from the Old to the New,

The birth of the church is now in view

Read about it in Acts chapter 2.

Seventy years of captivity

Israel was banished to Babylon,

Read Jeremiah chapter 25

Of Israel’s pending desolation.

One hundred is symbolic

Of the abundance of fruit produced,

From a reading of Mark chapter 4

This we can deduce.

In Genesis 5 verse 27

Is nine hundred and sixty-nine:

That is the age of Methuselah

The oldest man of any time.

One thousand is my final number

It speaks of the coming millennium

Go to Revelation 20 and read

About Jesus’ millennium kingdom.

But note the unknown number

In Revelation 7 verse 9:

A multitude that no man can number

That number is mine.

The Four Deceptive D’s

I know that some will disagree

And with this, I have no problem

But before you do, read right through,

This is not a referendum.

There are four D’s that bother me

Especially when used together,

In recent times their use has decreased

But for me, it is still a bother.

Their use display some selfishness

Along with some arrogance too,

Some may deem it “praying in faith”

But for me, that is a dim view.

These four D’s I will now introduce

Desire, Demand, Declare, Decree,

If you take offense right away

I trust in the end you will agree.

Read on is all I ask of you

Please read on to the very end,

And if at the end you don’t agree

Be assured you are still my friend.

Desire is what we feel we want

And there is nothing wrong with this

But all too often in our selfishness

There is quite a lot we miss.

From Desire to Demand

The rolling out of human nature,

What we desire we must definitely get

And so we put God in the picture.

Yes we pray it too

To God, we make our demand

And by faith, we approach His throne

As though He is our magic wand.

Confess and possess, that is faith,

Walk right into your miracle,

This daring delusion of the mind

Certainly is not a Bible principle.
  

“Put it in the atmosphere!”

Hence the notion of Declare!

The ideology of "believe you have it"

Thus rejecting all doubts and fear.

Just one more “D” to employ

And this process complete,

Now Decree as a king would do

And later, this same prayer repeat.

Do you see what I mean?

Desire, Demand, Declare, Decree

When we pray like this

We disrespect the Almighty.

We are advised to wait on God

To leave the matter in His hand,

To trust in Him whatever befall

And simply do what He commands.

In such a case we have His peace

And not necessarily what we ask,

He determines what is best for us

And this truth we need to grasp.

So when you pray or even preach

Remember, God is in control,

Desire you may, but don’t Demand

Whatever position you hold.

Declare and Decree, please omit

That is God’s special domain,

To think He puts such in human hands

Is to think as one insane.

I trust by now you see

What I have been trying to say,

Sometimes in an effort to impress

We clearly go out of the way.

Keep it simple when you pray

And follow the tenets of the Word,

God is about His glory and our good

To think otherwise is absurd.
