Let’s have a conversation
As a friend of mine would say,
It will be about insurance
The kind we need today.
Why do we need insurance?
The question could be asked,
The answer to which, I submit,
Is not a difficult task.
We do not know the future
And what does that really mean?
We need to have some backup
Upon which we can later lean.
Hence the need for insurance
A just in case policy,
Just in case something happens
We can draw down on that facility.
But this requires a sacrifice
An ongoing sacrifice today,
It means putting by incrementally
Some of our monthly pay.
And it isn’t done like in the past
Where some may secure it in a tot,
But we use an insurance company
Where a little can bring a lot.
We buy into the guarantee
And we affix out signature to the pact
And in specified monthly premiums
We maintain the signed contract.
Any breach of this contract
Could spell for us disaster,
We could forfeit the money we paid
And regret our decision thereafter.
Even as I write this poem
Insurance clients are up in arms,
The company shall remain nameless
But there is much public alarm.
Insurance appears fraught with risks
Beware when you enter therein!
And concerning the guarantees given
This line appears quite thin.
Let me inform you instead
About two other insurance policies,
They are guaranteed beyond time
And throughout all eternity.
They are not contractual
As in normal everyday insurance,
There is absolutely no risk involved
Hence you’re not taking a chance.
Regarding one of these policies
We are an automatic buy in,
In Psalm 51 the Psalmist declares
That we are born and shaped in sin.
The guarantee regarding this policy
Is one of a negative bent
That simply says to you and me
An eternity in hell will be spent.
That is of course unless
We buy into the other policy,
They that accept the Son of God
Shall be saved for all eternity.
This is the insurance I recommend
It’s important that you take it now,
Jesus has paid all the premiums
To him just penitently bow.
This is a complete package
Of covenantal, eternal insurance
And it comes to the “whosoever-will”
The compliments of God’s assurance.
Its assurance is over time
But the insurance is for all eternity
And comes with the assurance of the Spirit
Backed by the blessed Trinity.
There is no chance of embezzlement
By any of the co-essential Three,
The resources invested are all theirs-
None of it comes from you or me.
Creator of heaven and earth
And all of its related resources,
Vanquisher and in-conquerable victor
Over all of evil forces.
Thus there is no chance of losing out
Once one accepts this insurance,
Unlike today’s life insurance policies
It is God that gives the assurance.
