In the midst of this everyday jungle
God is good
And even when we take a tumble
God is good
When it’s so dark that we cannot see
God is good
And it’s not as good as we want it to be
God is good
When success eludes and failure intrudes
God is good
When confronted by hateful attitudes
God is good
When nothing’s right and all seems wrong
God is good
And when mostly weak instead of strong
God is good
When downhill is as tough as uphill
God is good
And when waking up is a bitter pill
God is good
When friends and enemies are alike
God is good
And when anticipated help is not in sight
God is good
When we do not know which bill to pay
God is good
Only funds for one bill on a given day
God is good
When the pantry’s empty and there’s no food
God is good
When it’s terribly hot and nowhere is cool
God is good
When even your best seems to be your worst
God is good
And people view you as though you are a curse
God is good
When friends forsake and turn their backs
God is good
And when your train seems mostly off track
God is good
When promises are like they’re made of glass
God is good
When you are hoping that hard times will pass
God is good
When your last meal was several days ago
God is good
When no help comes from people you know
God is good
When the electricity is off and also the water
God is good
And the struggle involves your son and daughter
God is good
You have been charged yet you are innocent
God is good
And to defend yourself you don’t have a cent
God is good
No help forthcoming from those you helped
God is good
It’s the most awful feeling you have ever felt
God is good
The diagnosis is awful and the prognosis is bad
God is good
There’s absolutely nothing of which to be glad
God is good
Just remember that whatever the situation
God is good
It doesn’t matter your status or position
God is good
The odds mean nothing when God is for you
For God is good
Like Job of old, love to do good and evil eschew
For God is good
