“Now here” or “no where”
Which one is it?
That we mistake one for the other
Is an everyday habit.
“Now here” speaks to existence
“No where” says it is not,
There are opposites we would say
And very easy to spot.
But at times the “W” is misplaced
And not always by mistake,
Sometimes the error is deliberate
In order to create a fake.
You pass and see an Ad
That clearly says “Now Here”
But on entering that establishment
The item indicated is “No Where”.
What disappointment that brings!
What lessening of one’s trust!
Someone forgot to remove the sign
Hence the reason for the fuss.
Note I said they were opposites
But they are not always so,
Sometimes they can be synonyms
Give me a chance to show.
If one’s custom is wasting time
He is evidently going “no where”
And if in fact he is going “no where”
Then it follows he is “now here”.
He could not be where he was
And yet he is “now here”,
It really means he has not moved
And therefore he is going “no where”.
Going “no where” is “now here”
Since one explains the other,
While they are antonyms in one case
They are synonyms in another.
It’s like a new Government
The old one was going “no where”
But when all is said and done
The new one is “now here”.
The same conundrum I must say
Whatever the superfluous talk,
Though different they are yet the same
“Now here” is a “no where” walk.
And now I have come to the end
Thanks for being so kind,
“Now here” is “no where” I contend
But the opposite at another time.
