Shut Up Under Sin

 

 

Galatians 3:22

 

"But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin,

so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ

might be given to those who believe."

 

Shut up under sin

Yes!  That was me!

But ever since Jesus came in

I am free.

 

Once behind bars

Yes!  I was imprisoned!

But now a redeemed child

Of God’s kingdom.

 

Shut up by the Scripture

Shut up under sin!

But coming to faith in Jesus

I ran into him.

 

To access the good

I had to confess the bad,

The bars were stripped away

And I am so glad.

 

It was a divine plan

In which I had no input

Other than to believe in Jesus

To get out of my rut.

 

 

The promise is to all

That trust in Jesus Christ,

To all them that believe

In his sacrifice.

 

The shed blood of Jesus

Facilitated my release;

I’m longer shut up under sin

My incarceration ceased.

 

The Scripture has shut up

Everyone under sin

And there can be no release

Until one comes to him.

 

That “him” is Jesus:

The Word that became flesh,

And it is in this same Jesus

That this promise rests.
