A November to Remember

October is gone
And November has dawned,
We are into Independence
And that mood is on.

How fast it has fled
The month of October!
But we must still be prepared
The storm season’s not over.

Thirty days to celebrate
Barbados our island home,
In two thousand and eighteen
We are fifty-two years grown.

We have come a long way
There’ve been ups and downs
And many since 1966
Are no longer around.

To call their names
Would take quite a long time
And the truth is also
Many won’t come to mind.

We reminisce on that night
And that great Garrison crowd,
We remember with nostalgia
Boy that crowd was loud.

Currently we are going though
An economic impasse,
Our country is faced
With a very difficult task.

We have consulted the IMF
And requested its aid
But we must also find ways
That will boost our trade.

We must grow the economy
By producing more and more
And maybe in a few years time
We can begin to soar.

As we come together
To celebrate this November
Let us make this a time
That we will long remember.

With God as our Head
We can do so this month
And as we celebrate Independence
Through Him we will triumph.

Not by just talking it
But purposefully walking it too
So that God may be honoured
In all that we do.
