Who Is The Holy Spirit?

Who is the Holy Spirit?
Note I said who and not what,
For a mere force as some say,
He most definitely is not.

Third person of the Trinity
And I do not mean in rank,
He is as God as God is
And I am being biblically frank.

Co-eternal and co-existent
The Spirit, the Word and God,
All three are one believe you me
We can tell that word abroad.

The Word spoke of his coming
As a Comforter like himself,
Turn right now to John 14:17
Yes, take that Bible off the shelf.

The Word calls the Spirit “Him”
Not an “it” or a “that”,
Read John 14:17 again
And you will see there that fact.

In fact the essence of that verse
Bears out a Divine unity,
The Spirit and the Word are one
Read the text and you will see.

Can a force teach? I dare say not
But the Spirit does just that,
Read verse 26 and you will see
That this is another fact.

Can a force grieve?  Tell me that
For the Holy Spirit does in fact grieve,
In addition verse 30 of Ephesians 4
Tells also by him we are sealed.

By the way if you did not know
He also makes intercession for us,
Romans 8:26 is very clear on this
And verse 34 shows also Jesus.

The Spirit helps our infirmities
When we know not what to pray
With groanings that can’t be uttered
That is the Holy Spirit’s way.

Quench not the Spirit, we are warned
In 1st Thessalonians 5 verse 19,
This suggests the Spirit’s personage
As for me that can be clearly seen.

Who is the Holy Spirit?
Again I say who and not what,
Though some see him as merely a force
Jesus and God definitely do not.
