At times when I sit and ponder
I just can’t help but wonder
How we repeat blunder after blunder,
It’s like getting hit with thunder.
“Lightning strikes not thunder,”
Hence you also begin to wonder
About the things that I ponder
Believing I have made a blunder.
“It’s a marvel of our environment,
If you understand my sentiment
Just temper your rising resentment
And don’t disregard my argument.”
Such an argument is not the norm,
Your point has no shape or form,
I won’t be quick your point to scorn
But I am just beginning to warm.”
“Lightning strikes; thunder doesn’t,
Thunder rolls and therefore couldn’t,
If the other way lightning wouldn’t
Then as it stands thunder shouldn’t.
A flash of lightning can be savage,
It can cause quite a bit of damage,
A wide expanse it can severely ravage
Leaving behind loss and carnage.”
“Remember where this all started
For clearly you have now departed
From what was to be lighthearted
And to the serious you have darted.
I said:
At times when I sat and pondered
I just couldn’t help but wonder
How we repeated blunder after blunder,
It was like getting hit with thunder.
You said:
Lightning strikes not thunder,
Hence you also began to wonder
About the things that I pondered
Believing I had made a blunder.
But thunder hits; it really does
So spare me your annoying buzz
That my argument is a lot of fuzz
Like bubbles as in the case of suds.
“Not like lightning you must admit,
Surely not from where I sit,
Your argument is not even worth spit,
I could almost have a laughing fit.”
“I know you are one of those well read,
Of good pedigree and really well bred
But rather than consider what I have said,
You want to poke fun at me instead.
Your “not like lightning” proves to me
There is a point to my point you see,
While a flash of lightning can cut a tree
A roll of thunder can cause damage to be.
What for you started as a mystery
Has moved from impossible to probability,
That thunder can hit is even likely
And can cause damage you admitted to me.”
“I never made any such concession
Neither did indicate any admission,
Your senses have gone into serious recession
If you believe I entered a confession.”
I almost thought you had seen the light
But clearly you’re not that bright,
I shall now endeavour to put you right
And hope you welcome the new insight.
Lightning strikes and creates great heat,
Slashing a tree is its ordinary feat,
It occurs when electrical charges meet
And “where you sit" will become a hot seat.
Thunder can cause tremendous vibration
Effecting damage to some accommodation
Causing cracks and much consternation
Urging the need for speedy evacuation.”
At the beginning this was not my aim
But you wanted to dispute my claim
Hence I needed to show I am not insane
Thunder hits and causes great pain.
At times when I sit and ponder
I just can’t help but wonder
How we repeat blunder after blunder,
It’s like getting hit with thunder.
Consider the vibrations of the mind,
Not now but perhaps another time,
Until then be careful what you opine,
Examine the matter before you decline.
If you have a headache just anoint
But I certainly trust you got the point,
When you are ready again just honk,
It’s time for me to leave this joint.
