Wunna Fuh Real?

 

 

 

You mean over five thousand can’t vote

And this is no big thing?

And it could very well be six thousand

When the next report they bring.

 

Wunna fuh real?

Is this the new republic?

Less than two months after the change

And we already getting sick?

 

Nah man! We got to look at this

This is not good at all,

And don’t tell me ‘bout sick people in QEH,

This election was purposely called.

 

In the middle of a pandemic!

Wunna fuh real?

And with numbers rising?

Man, this would have to be a fail.

 

 

Ketch everybody with the pants down

And I mean everybody!

It smacks of desperation

And I mean seriously.

 

Out of a clear blue sky

Like a tornado in Barbados,

Parliament dissolved with immediate effect

And an election call given by the boss.

 

Something hidden here

And perhaps in plain sight

But you know I can’t see it,

I will never be that bright.

 

Wunna fuh real?

All ya think this is right?

Over five thousand disenfranchised

And wunna tekking this light?

 

A five years contract

Terminated in three and a half years

And this sudden behavior

Is not a cause for fear?

 

 

And in the middle of a pandemic

With numbers rising,

And wunna trying to tell me

This is nothing surprising?

 

Whuh dis en ‘bout B’s and D’s

And all de other parties!

This is about a young republic

And its people’s safety.

 

Why take this chance now?

Why not wait a little while?

Why not see how de pandemic will go?

That would be a better style.

 

The truth be told de rest en ready yet

Nor are likely to be,

Real trouble in dem camp

And serious anarchy.

 

If they form de Government

I don’t know what is likely

Cause they jumped right back in

Without even an apology.

 

For three and a half years

Little or nothing from them

And the moment de election bell ring

Leh we get back in dey den!

 

My fellow Barbadians,

This is a most serious affair,

I am not easily frightened

But this gives me a scare.

 

 

The withholding of one’s rights

Cannot be taken lightly

And this deprivation of five thousand Barbadians

Is not being handle rightly.

 

Have another look

Is what I would advise

And please ensure this is not the beginning

Of democracy’s demise.
