The genuine is the genuine
It cannot be otherwise
And when we truly know it
We will spot any disguise.
The genuine is the truth
The truth about that product
And all others are counterfeit
And simply do not add up.
The Pharisees were genuine
Or so it would appear
Until Jesus, the Christ, came
And they disappeared.
Jesus appeared on the scene
As the genuine one,
The one the Father promised
Before creation’s dawn.
The counterfeit is exposed
When the genuine comes
And the genuine in this case
Was God’s begotten Son.
So-called paragons of virtue
Are only so called
And in the light of the genuine
Are seen as frauds.
Like modern day Pharisees
Who play “Let’s Pretend”
But all outside their company
They repeatedly offend.
There can be look-alikes
Sometimes difficult to spot
But a knowledge of the genuine
Reveals the whole plot.
The Word is our surest hope
For identifying any fake,
It would be wise to study it
For our own sake.
It is the genuine source,
The Holy Word, I mean,
And it is the instrumentality
By which we are redeemed.
