Another Silly Season

Christmas 2017 – Silly Season is upon us

We are in the silly season

With Christmas as its goal

And with the day quickly approaching

The silly are becoming bold.

The motorists on the street

With the pedestrians in between,

Both oblivious of the other

Heading for an awful scene.

The honking of car horns

And the ignoring of the same,

Yes, we are in the silly season

At this Christmas time again.

“Wait, whuh wrong wid you?

That ain got no horn?”

And if you dare to honk the horn,

The look is one of scorn.

“Wait, you cahn wait?”

You hear this on honking a horn,

“You had better tek it easy!”

The offended is likely to warn.

For stretches on the highway

Lines of vehicles you can see

And some are cutting in and out

Not caring about anybody.

Roundabouts are blocked up

By injudicious motorists

With ZR vans still forcing through

Willing to take the risks.

The city stores are crowded

And the country malls likewise

With the villain plying his trade

Like a shopper disguised.

The prices have definitely risen

The bargains have decreased

But the shopper is intent on procuring

That desired furnishing piece.

Having discarded the old set

It is time to buy the new

And there is no time like Christmas

That special project to do.

Severely out of pocket

But still in the spending queue

Since only after January and February

A payment will become due.

That practically gives to me

Three months to show off the new set,

After this Courts can repossess it

And I wouldn’t have a regret.

Surviving the Silly Season

It’s the silly season again

On the street and in the home,

Housewives doing myriad tasks

And speaking on the phone.

“Uh just burnt the stupid meat

And de pot boiling over too!

This is because of this lot o’ time

I’s spend on the phone wid you.”

It really could be worse,

The house could have been burnt

But in the Christmas silly season

Such lessons are not learnt.

Making Sense of the Silly Season – Intro | A Sermon & A Study

Listen out for housefires

Though I pray there won't be any

But it’s around the Christmas time

That people are mostly silly.

It’s another silly season,

We are almost back to the norm

But there is still a COVID directive

So my friend, be warned!
