Wasn’t it a wonder
The inscription o’er his head?
The King of the Jews
Was what it had said.
What the scribes did not know
Was how right they were,
Had they known then
That would have been quite a stir.
Not only king of the Jews
But King of the World,
The same world he had created
By his spoken Word.
Wasn’t it a wonder
The thief hanging at his side
Who at that opportune moment
On his word had relied?
While the other railed on him
And in the worst way behaved
Jesus in his dying moments
Still had power to save.
Salvation was granted
To that thief who asked
And the assurance was given
Before Jesus had passed.
Wasn’t it a wonder
There was total darkness
at noon
And it was so horrid
For the Light there was no room?
Right there on the cross
Hung the Light of the World
But the World knew it not
Though it was written in His Word.
A time is coming
When greater darkness will come
To all those who refuse
To accept the light from God’s Son.
Wasn’t it a wonder
At the rending of the temple veil?
Now any other way to God
Except through Jesus will fail.
Before, only the High Priest
Had accessed to God’s throne,
Now we all can come to him boldly
And that, through Jesus alone.
Thank God for that rending
And the unobstructed path
By which every born again believer
Can come through Jesus Christ at last.
Wasn’t it a wonder
When the earth did quake
And happened as God had planned
For Jesus Christ sake?
Right then the earth submitted
To the Lordship of Christ
Even as the sun earlier on
Had recognized his great sacrifice.
For the elements demonstrated
That Jesus was the Lord of life
Who had been crucified that day
On account of mankind’s strife.
Wasn’t it a wonder
When the graves opened up?
Jesus had cried with a loud voice
Having drunk the bitter cup.
Many of the saints that slept
Then suddenly arose
Confirming that Jesus in dying
Had both death and the grave disposed.
In three days hence
He would tear death’s bars away
And render the grave powerless
Over him that holds full sway.
There is going to be
A great getting up morning
And we all are looking forward
To that great day’s dawning.
Wasn’t it a wonder
Regarding the centurion’s confession?
Note what he said
After he’d seen all that had happened.
Truly this was the Son of God
The centurion back then had said
And note that according to Mark 15:39
He said it as soon as Jesus was dead.
Hopefully such a revelation
Would not be just head knowledge assent
But regarding your spiritual well being
In your heart you will repent.
Isn’t it a wonder
That even on All Fools’ Day
The best decision that anyone can make
Is to let the Lord Jesus have his way?
For the first time since 1945
Easter is falling on All Fool’s Day,
Send the fool further need not be your lot
It’s time to keep the devil at bay.
Be a part of the wonder
Of this resurrection celebration
And experience the wonderful joy
That is God’s great salvation.
A Blessed Easter to You
