Sugar is sweet
I can understand
But so is meat
On the other hand
Sweet means sugary
Says the dictionary
But all is sweet
That’s not neat
Sweet like a dress
Sweet like a caress
Whatever the test
Sweet is the best
Sweet to the ear
Or a cologne spray
A lovely picture
A hawker’s sweets tray
Sweet is everything
That tickles fancy
A riveting novel
Or the story of Anansi
A tour in the country
Could be sweet
Or just a stroll
Along the street
At the movies
Or at a cricket game
Both are sweet
Though not the same
A stroke from Lara
Or vintage Sir Garry
Sweet is the expression
A good one from Lillie
The fragrance of a rose
Or lily in the night
Both are sweet
Like a beautiful sight
The face of a child
Its radiant smile
Is considered sweet
Like sugarcane for miles
A very pleasant day
Not hot or cold
What a sweet day it is
As the breezes blow
What about a meal
Of varying tastes
Everything is sweet
Even the cheese paste
A melodic note
Some curried goat
To coloured or white
Sweet is the vote
We had a sweet time
At church or the club
So too certain men
At the rum shop or pub
A private rendezvous
A public view
Your view or my view
Sweet is the view
Overworked overdone
Sweet is the oft rerun
Expression under the sun
For whatever brings us fun
