Trusts the ear

It goes by what it hears

And when that news is great

It soars high in the air

But if that news is bad

It stutters to a stop

It sometimes happens

In the church

Or even at the shop

It’s played across

The ear waves

And impressed upon the mind

It’s a reliable source

Often what one opines

Ear conditioned love

Trusts a mutual friend

Such news is never wrong

And brings about

The end

Someone told me

The other day

They saw some goings on

I know it is the truth

For they are well informed

Ear conditioned love

Sows a doubt

From a tiny little seed

Just someone’s impression

And we are quick to yield

It’s a grumble

A stumble and a rumble

And at the end of it

No one is willing

To humble
