Inspired by Aunt Gwen 1

Waste Not Want Not.”

I must not throw upon the ground

The bread I cannot eat,

For many a hungry little one

Would think it quite a treat.”

Waste Not Want Not

Is particularly worthy of note

For I dare say in this modern age

We are on a slippery slope.

Waste Not Want Not

Considering the needy around us,

Twelve baskets full were collected

In that miracle of Jesus.

Waste Not Want Not

Is a lesson that Jesus taught

When he fed over five thousand,

In the miracle he wrought.

He did it a second time,

By now we should have learned

That waste not want not

Is a lesson we should not spurn.

Waste Not Want Not

I must not throw upon the ground

The bread I cannot eat,

For many a hungry little one

Would think it quite a treat.”

The words in bold are not my own,

For these I take no credit

But the worth expressed in such a thought

Is of tremendous merit.

And similarly, to you I hope

When you are tempted to waste,

You would think of someone in dire need

And minister to him with haste.
