Ignorance of the law
Is no excuse,
The ignorant is as guilty
As those that refuse.
Some know the law
And some do not
But which ever violates it
Lands in the same spot.
There are laws of nature
That you and I both know,
They can be very good friends
Or your very worst foe.
Take the law of gravity
It helps us every day
But people who abuse it
Often have to pay.
Take the little toddler
That was left unattended,
While playing too near the edge
He was greatly offended.
He was ignorant of gravity
But gravity didn’t care,
The consequence of his ignorance
Was more that he could bear.
His cuts and bruises were many
After he slipped off the ledge,
How that parent regretted
Having left him near the edge!
Consequences are unforgiving
Even when we are ignorant,
“I did not know” never reverses
An unfavorable event.
It pays to be in the know
And not ever to assume
Or else you may have to stomach
The frequent “I told you so”.
“I did not know” is ignorance
Which consequence disregards,
“I told you so” follows
The actions of retards.
