Reversing he was coming forward
Yes, coming straight at us,
Of that we had no doubt
For getting nearer was the dust.
Perhaps you are wondering
How such a thing could be
But the back of the car was to us
And that we could clearly see.
Whether it was intentional or not
We had little time to find out
So we scrambled to our feet
When we heard somebody shout.
They were shouting to the driver
“There are some boys behind!”
But the truth of the matter was,
Reversing forward was on my mind.
For here was a car reversing
But for us it was heading
And since heading is advancing
This reversing was forwarding.
That car was coming ahead
Even though we were behind
And had we not swiftly moved
That would have ended our time.
See how it related to us:
That back-end was the front,
It mattered not which end of the car
We were headed for the mount.
So, reversing forward is possible
If the thing is coming at you,
Get out of there as quick as you can
And live to advance your view.
Which brings me to another point
That fits this theme as well,
Some are reversing forward
On their way to hell.
Backwards they are, though forward,
From their own perspective,
They are dead in sins and trespasses
Although they feel they live.
Hell is on its way to meet them
Unless they press the brake,
They may find this rather amusing
Until hell becomes their fate.
Reversing forward can happen
Depending on where you stand,
If the back-end is headed for you
You could be a dead man.
