Ewe could be a goat
Or ewe may be a sheep
Don’t expect to tell the difference
Simply by the bleat.
Ewe might eat bush
Or grass ewe may eat,
Still ewe might be a goat
Or even a silly sheep.
Ewe may wear a coat
Of brown or black
But even ewe
Mightn’t know this fact.
Ewe could jump and run
And even frolic a bit
But could ewe be a goat?
Not from where I sit.
I am not kidding
Or behaving sheepishly,
If you have a minute or so
Check your dictionary.
Ewe is a female sheep
For certain, never a goat,
Ewe can only produce lambs
No kidding, no joke.
So, what was the purpose
Regarding these lines?
Seeing is believing
But not hearing every time.
If you listen to this poem
You’ll see what I mean,
A little insulting in the beginning
If heard and not seen.
Check out the ewe before
And you thereafter
And if you could lighten up a bit
Enjoy some laughter.
Thank God you can speak
While ewe only bleat
And if Jesus is your shepherd
That makes you his sheep.
By the way, I used poetic license
For ewe and not ewes,
If you know anything about poetry
This would not be news.
However, if you still feel
I should replace ewe with ewes,
Let me close by saying
You’re entitled to your views.
