Life has no undo button
Undo is a figment of the mind,
We can ask “what if” all we want
But not alter the passing time.
Not one second can we change
Or return to its former state
Far less a minute, an hour, a day,
We can’t even change its rate.
Even if we could stop the sun
Time would still roll on,
On the clock it would still tick by
Though we delay the dawn.
In the Holy Bible we read
That Joshua stopped the sun
But the raging battle still went on
Until that victory was won.
There is daylight saving time
To provide more daylight,
They put the clocks back, they say,
But cannot prevent the night.
It is really a fallacy
To think we have changed the day
And that by putting back our clocks
Nighttime we have delayed.
We can neither delay nor stop
That which is already established
And it does not matter who we are
Or how fervently we wish.
Such is the passage of life,
As a matter of fact, it’s blind fate,
And after all of our detailed planning
That unknown is still a date.
We oft remember an incident
And how we yearn to rearrange
The circumstances surrounding it…
But such we cannot change!
Such is the passage of life
Yes, so synonymous with time,
We could wish and hope and pine
But in reality, no rewind.
God, in His infinite wisdom,
Did not design it thus,
Even He did not go back to yesterday
And choose to hit readjust.
We do it with our computers
When there’s some resulting strife
But our past we cannot change,
That’s the reality we call life.
Of course, God did not need to
For Him, life is no blind date,
Unlike the humans that He created
God is incapable of mistakes.
Loved ones we’d surely hug
If only we could bring them back
But there’s no undo button to press
To make their return a fact.
We view life from the back-end
Hence, to undo is impossible,
If only life were like our computer
We could surely end such trouble.
No undo button, I repeat
And this is worthy of repetition,
It is therefore best that God orders today
And this is invaluable admonition.
