Trust is the key to prevailing prayer,
Trust and never doubt whether we’re far or near,
Eyes on the Saviour our Shepherd so dear
Trust is the key to prevailing prayer.
Look to Jesus our advocate and friend,
Trust Him who knows the beginning from the end.
The Author and Finisher of our faith trust Him!
He is more than any fancy, imagination or whim.
It's not in the length of the prayer or in our own might,
It's not the prayer warrior in whom we should delight.
It's not in our enthusiasm or adrenaline rush,
It's our childlike faith in Christ and Him we must trust.
Yes trust is the key to prayer that brings the victory,
Trusting in the triune God in faith and humility.
Trust Him in the night time, trust Him through the day,
Trust Him especially when we cannot see the way.
It is not the prayer vigil though a hundred strong,
It’s not the holding of hands or the noisy throng,
It’s not in the rhetoric and the vaunted speech,
But in trusting Him whose hand is ever within reach.
It’s a fact that trust is the key to prevailing prayer,
Trust and don’t doubt whether it’s dark or fair.
Looking to him who is our strength and our source
Never relinquishing however hard the devil may force.
The night may be long and the day far spent
But we can trust in the Lord and never relent.
He knows what we need before we say a word
And long before we call he has already heard.
Trust is the key, not the pastor or they that intercede,
None of them through much prayer can meet our need.
For God’s will must be done if Him we will please
And nothing short of trust could ever Him appease.
Prayer without trust is like a boat without an oar,
For without its wings tell me how can an eagle soar?
God responds to childlike trust when on Him we call,
Trust is that ingredient in prayer that will help us all.
Trust added to prayer is like the signature on an account,
Without it prayer is just words no matter the amount.
Hope I have made my point whatever the fret or care
Trust is always the key to prevailing prayer.
