A winsome smile
And a pleasant look?
It’ll take more than this
To be in the Lamb’s book.
Very good works
And self-righteous acts?
More than these too
And that’s a fact.
A Jewish lineage
And a wonderful family tree?
That’s not required
In the Word, you’d see.
A good life lived
And an honest one too?
God demands more
From me from you.
A sacrificial record
And a selfless account?
More than that it’ll take
It’s not the amount.
It’s nothing we do
But what’s been done,
God did it all
Through Jesus, His Son.
A great history
Can’t save any man,
Only acceptance
Of God’s redemptive plan.
There’s no salvation
Outside of Christ,
I suggest right now
To give him your life.
Confess your sins
And repent of them too,
Accept Jesus Christ
That’s what to do.
That’s what it’ll take
If to heaven we’ll climb,
Christ did it all
For your sake and mine.
